There was $76 SBD in my wallet after the last post paid out. Having seen @blocktrades post about being able to rent Steem Power and @spaminator's posts about the importance of having an account to fight the persistent spam problem we've suffered on the platform, I put the two together with some superglue.

@patrice has been a workhorse for SteemCleaners and she is doing all of us a big service. She and @pfunk , along with others there, have done a great job fighting spam. They need more juice and I think we need to pitch in by contributing to @spaminator.
So I sent 76 SBD to Blocktrades for a 30-day SP rental, payable to the @spaminator account. Out the other end came a 4000 SP delegation (good rate). It's Spaminator's to use for the next 30 days.
Let's do it again!
I'll double down on that. Any SBD I pick up from this post goes to @spaminator also, not in the form of a direct donation, but as a rented delegation of more SP to fight spam.
I hope others will consider renting SP for some deserving people and programs like this. It won't be my last.

You are doing great thing and they are too and i am supporting strongly because i was faced last month and lost 156 STEEM but now i aware more and give all phising activities on steem and its information to Admins. I want steemit completely free from this kind of scammer.

The spam fighters are doing more than I am, but I'm trying to help in a small way. Sorry to hear that you lost money to the scammer; please don't send money to anyone you don't know. There's spam and scam, which are not necessarily related, but we want both of them gone!
Yes i am now more aware and always check many times while they ask password and i am also helping by giving information to Admin about them if i see. I not want others also face what i faced. So i try my best to people aware from scam and there is lots of happening in recent times so people must have to aware.

I'd use SteemNuke on spammers and trolls, if there were such a thing. :)
we can make either @SteemNuke bot or #SteemNuke group for that, but we need some motivation for people to start fighting spam on their own too.
Yes, I agree. Downvoting is not used widely. People lose out on curation rewards if they use their power that way (since they might otherwise use it to upvote something good), plus there is the danger of getting into a flagging war with someone. It's far too easy for reputations to be impacted. I think when communities come, the owners/moderators will have more ability to hide the junk content, so maybe that will help.
maybe giving the same reward as up-voting a good post, for don-voting a spam post would motivate more people to participate in cleaning.
