Deepsend postponed. Good or bad?

Yesterday one of the DeepOnion project developers announced that Deepsend (one of the most promising DeepOnion feature) will be postponed till after the Airdrops. The developers want to focus on marketing the current DeepVault feature first since they feel like they are lagging on market this revolutionary feature. They are working on a customized website for this feature at the moment, so it can be used via a website instead of the qt wallet only, making it more user friendly.

The Deepsend feature got announced in the 2nd DeepOnion newsletter and got a lot of positive attention ever since. With DeepSend both the network and the transactions are protected. Tor only secures the network which means that your IP is protected and your peers will not know your IP, but your transactions are still viewable for everyone. People can still see the tx from all addresses. With that they can figure out the source and the destination via the explorer or blockchain.

With the use of a multi-signature method, Deepsend will hide the transaction trace, making every transaction fully anonymous (more on this later). Now being anonymous is getting more and more popular among everyone, and a lot of people see this promising feature as the main pilar of the DeepOnion project, you can ask yourself; is the decision to postpone this feature a good or bad decision?

Bad Decision

Lets start with the downside of postponing Deepsend. With the high interest in the DeepOnion project, you also get to deal with people that see the DeepOnion project as a scam and they share their thoughts about this all over the web. These so called FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) talk bad about the project and warning others to participate in the forum or to invest in the project.

With postponing the Deepsend feature till after the airdrops, we give them a lot of power, because this is confirming their fear that Deepsend is a fake feature and can not be made. The developers are constantly advertising with providing fully anonymous transactions and now they are just drawing people to the project to invest in and when the airdrops are done, they sell all their coins and disappear.. Obviously this is not true and this will not happen, the community knows that, but for non informed people this can be a clear reason to stay away from this project and I do not blame them. The community of DeepOnion is strong and they will handle all the FUD perfectly, but it is certainly not helping. Good communication from the developers is mandatory, to limit the damage by this.

Good Decision

In The Netherlands we have a saying; Hard runners are dead runners. This basically means that if you go fast from the start, you will not last long. Same goes for the DeepOnion project and the releases of the new features. The project is really unique and very promising, but it will be all for nothing if the developers are spitting out features that have bugs in them, do not work properly and are not marketed right.

The DeepVault feature is a good example for this. The technique behind this feature is really revolutionary, but the purpose of this new feature is still unclear for many. What can you do with this and why should I use this? Questions that are often asked outside of the community, mainly because there is no website and the developers did not market this feature well. This is something the developers want to learn from and that is why they are postponing the Deepsend feature.

Postponing this very important feature while its release was planned for the 4th quarter of this year, and many people looking forward to this, shows courage and strength from the developers. They rather focus on delivering a good working and well marketed feature, instead of keeping the crowd happy by releasing it too soon.

For a long time, people have the expectation that the price per onion will drop dramatically after the last airdrop at the end of March. Since they do not get free coins anymore and the price will be high, so it will be a good time to cash out. I personally think that the release of the Deepsend feature will boost the price of the Onion and that many people will HODL their coins even after the last airdrop due to this, which is very positive for the project. What is your opinion on this?
