Deep Dives 10
In this instalment, we’ll make our second decent into the CIA Library.
Be sure to check out the original CIA related #deepdives challenge.
FOIA
Since 1967, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) has provided the public the right to request access to records from any federal agency. It is often described as the law that keeps citizens in the know about their government. Federal agencies are required to disclose any information requested under the FOIA unless it falls under one of nine exemptions which protect interests such as personal privacy, national security, and law enforcement.
The FOIA also requires agencies to proactively post online certain categories of information, including frequently requested records. As Congress, the President, and the Supreme Court have all recognized, the FOIA is a vital part of our democracy.

@deepdives
I was looking for info on writing a new post when I ran into this headline
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-12-10/newly-released-mkultra-docs-cia-made-remote-controlled-dogs-brain-surgery
The article also talked about a site called the black vault that has a collection of all the CIA'S, MK Ultra FOIA documents, just wanted to post this in case anyone who writes about MKUltra is looking for another document source to dive into, not to mention the headline was eye-catching,

This'll be a great resource. Where can I find the other deep dives you've done?

That is an excellent way to stimulate search for truth, @deepdives, full support.
Keen to have a look at some of those links.
Reading @shepz1's post reminded me of my first laptop which at the time, was an experiment in 100% open source software and running Ubuntu. The only reason I stopped using it was spilling coffee on the keyboard (der) which I never got around to replacing.
Anyway, will be interesting to have another look and maybe re-visit that experiment.
