Settling our debts fairly

in #debt7 years ago

It's worth realising the importance of us all paying our debts. Societies and communities won't function if most people don't honour their promises to pay for services they are provided and use. It's worth realising that it's our responsibility to ensure that all happens in a transparent and honourable way, for all parties involved.

So when somebody has a controversy that might involve me regarding a debt that needs to be paid, I'd simply want to first do my due diligence.

As I said, it's important for me to settle all debts I owe. To do that I would need to determine all the facts. So I would ask for any records of it that outline things like:

  • A full account of how this alleged debt was incurred by me, including the principle/s and if any related penalties; and
  • if involving penalties, then copies of the full terms and contract which I have agreed on these; and
  • if the alleged debt was sold to [company name] or specifically generates fees and/or income for [company name], then copies of all transactions and/or records outlining that - how, when, any other third-parties involved and for what related amount/s; and
  • copies of the full terms and contract which I have agreed on with [company name] for any of these actions to have taken place.

How else would I know if there's been no error in regards to the alleged debt? Wouldn't it be my responsibility to find out?
