Shapala is a type of aquatic plant in the flowering tree family. All the plants belonging to this family are known as Shapla. White Shapala flowers are national flowers of Bangladesh. This flower is commonly found in the Indian subcontinent. This plant has been spread in various areas since ancient times.
This flower pond and garden is very popular in Thailand and Myanmar. White shrapnel is found in ponds and lakes of countries such as Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Taiwan, Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar.
These flowers are also found in Papua New Guinea and some parts of Australia. These flowers are seen in cultivated land, as in the wild. This flower can be seen growing in a small amount of water that is harvested in the paddy field. About 5 species of this plant have been found in the world.
In Bengal it is called Shapla. In English, Shapala is called "Water Lily", White Water Lily, White Lotus, Tharo Angouba (Manipuri), 3 Velambal (Tamil), Kumud Kumuda (Sanskrit), Shaluk (Bengali), Nirmal (Malayalam), Kannidili (Kannada), Null (Assamese language). In Bengal, the blue Shapala flower is called Shaluk or Nilkamal, the red Shapala flower is called Bloodcolor.
Shapala flowers bloom during the day and are directly linked to the stem and root. Shapel leaves and flower stalks or stems or pus are attached to the root under water. And the root is attached to the soil and the leaves float on the water. From the original new leaves are born. The leaves are round and green, but the bottom is black. The floating leaves are sharp around. The size of the leaves is 25 to 25 cm and their range is about 1.5 to 1.5 m. Shapala flowers can be seen in many colors such as pink, white, blue, purple. This flower has 3 to 5 circles and has 5 to 5 petals. The flowers look like stars. Circles equal to the cup are 3-5 cm. Shapala is seen almost every year, but monsoon and autumn are the best times to grow this plant.
