Kayaking with whales in Alaska

The rise of the internet has publicized these extreme kayaking and paddleboarders with sharks and whales. While Alaskan sea kayakers have long owned the rights to cool photos of themselves in kayaks with breathtaking panoramas in the background and whale tales in the foreground, the state now offers tourist do the same. As a far north USA state they don’t to have too many tourists, so they have to think of new and interesting ways to get them. What is cooler after all than kayaking with a whale? It is almost becoming predictable as to when kayakers will be able to share in this experience, as whale experts are increasingly able to predict the feeding patterns of these truly beautiful marine mammals. Even though the whales are not doing any harm to the kayakers they can never be too careful. The whale’s sheer size and weight can be top two reasons that can cause some trouble while kayaking.

Zorbing

You wonder what this is? It is an extreme sport which allows adrenaline junkies to roll down a hill in a giant inflatable ball. Sounds great already. Adventure company Have You Got The Ball Ltd from New Zealand, offers an experience called sphereing, also known as zorbing. Zorbing is generally performed on a gentle slope, but can also be done on a level surface, letting more rider control. In the absence of hills some operators have constructed inflatable, wooden or metal ramps.

Volcano Bungee

Chileans have surely come up with a good way to make the most from their volcanoes. The Volcano Bungee near Pucón, Chile offers this insane and adrenaline boosting extreme activity. Basically you get flown up to an active volcano (yes a real volcano, active with lava and smoke and everything) and then you have to bungee jump off the helicopter into the caldera towards the molten lava. Hmm… people pay for this kind of suicidal bungee jumping. Tourists can do this bungee jump as part of a six-day package for $9,995, including accommodations and other activities.

Walking on the edge of CN Tower

If you ever go in Toronto, Canada you can get this unique, crazy and scary walk. The CN Tower holds a Guinness World Record for its EdgeWalk attraction which is the highest external walk on a building. The attraction allows people to walk hands free along a 1.5-metre-wide ledge that surrounds the top of the tower’s main pod on a height of 150 meters. The walk opened to the public in 2011 and according to officials this walk in the air had attracted thrill seekers from age 13 to 90.

The cage of death

This means that you are put in a cage and dropped down in a basin full with crocodiles. But for brave adrenalin seekers who still want to get in touch with a crocodile, a new Australian tourist attraction is offering the chance for a close encounter in the safety of a clear acrylic box also known ‘cage of death. The cage has no bars, unlike cages used in shark dives, which prevent the reptiles from gripping on, but deep tooth scratches are visible on the sides, which means the crocodiles would try to eat you, or at least the box you are in. Top End tourists climb into the clear box before being lowered into the crocodile’s lair. They then spend 15 minutes inside the 9ft high cage and watch the crocodile, who lost both front feet while fighting other crocodiles, try to take a bite out of them (and probably are surviving several heart attacks). Tourists can get this attraction at Crocosaurus Cove, in the heart of the city of Darwin in the Northern Territory in Australia.
