In the case of consumer data abuse, a powerful committee of the American Parliament has asked CEO of three large social media companies - Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, Google's Indian-American Sunder Pichai and Twitter's Jack Dorsey to appear at the Data Personality Hearing.
The Senate Judicial Affairs Committee has fixed the hearing on April 10. Committee chairman Chuck Grassley said in a statement that Zuckerberg has been called to discuss the company's old and future policies in relation to the security monitoring of consumer data.
In this hearing, broadly regarding the collective data collected, stored and distributed for business use, the criteria for privacy will be discussed.
According to the statement made in the media, it will be noted in the hearing how the misuse of the data can be done or how it can be given wrongly by the heads. Also, what steps can be taken by companies like Facebook to save consumers from such problems and bring transparency in the process?
Grasley has also called Pichai and Dorsey in this hearing. Senator Mark Warner has also sought answers from these social media companies on data protection.
On the same Facebook data abuse and anilika case, the US Federal Trade Commission has said that it is investigating against the issue of privacy on Facebook.
FTC in a statement on Monday confirmed it had started a 'non-public investigation' about Facebook's privacy policies. In the Bureau of Consumer Protection, FTC Executive Director Tom Pahal said, "FTC takes concerns related to privacy policies of Facebook seriously. He said that FTC is fully committed to protecting consumers.
