It is so beautiful to be a dancer. To be able to move in ways that channel knowledge beyond the mind. To let energy take over the human body into this ethereal process of guiding your being into being present. Being “in the know” of what part of the body wants to move, to say something. To feel where it hurts. Where there are blockages and where energy needs to flow. To be able to say so much with just movement. Without words. To be able to express life so theatrically, so wholesomely, so artistically. So in harmony with the subtle body, the gross body, the energy within us, our life force and the mind. Dancing is such a divine celebration of existence. It brings so much connection, union and belonging.
Dancers in any room are all charged up with this zest for life because they know what it is like to move. Move with their entire existence, feeling as alive and present as they could. The body, learning over the years – how the wind feels and responds to different moves. How heavy or light the body feels depending on what one is channeling through dance. How pain is processed, how minds are freed, how sorrow flows into gratitude as it adds to a dancer’s texture, how expansion happens at the centre of our chests, how stories flow from impressions sitting in the nooks and corners of the density of our psyche into the realm of release and how joy is easily shared with people who witness dancers expressing their joy.
Dancing is an act of many things. It is the act of expressing. The act of loving. The act of giving. The act of connecting. The act of freeing yourself and others. The act of celebrating. The act of meditating. The act of being present. The act of learning. The act of being patient. The act of embodying life force. The act of channeling emotions. The act of harnessing energy. The act of healing. The act of surrendering your body and mind to movement. Dance is divine. Dancing expresses and enlivens the divinity that dwells deep within us and connects us to the innermost core of our being.
