Daffodils do have a beautiful flower, as you can see from the picture below:

The flower is the yellow parts of the plant. Daffodils grow from bulbs - after the flowers have died away (and started to produce seed pods), gardeners let the leaves carry on growing and collecting nutrition which they send back down to the bulb. Eventually, the leaves die off and it looks as if the whole plant has disappeared totatlly.

However, the bulb is still working hard underground, ready to grow another daffodil flower the following year. Daffodils also propogate by producing more tiny bulbs around the original parent bulb. These only grow leaves for the first few years and eventually, when the new bulb is big enough, it will produce a flower.
