I want to take my dog Sebastian on bike rides with me, so I bought a bicycle trailer for dogs. Hopefully he can come on a bike camping trip sometime. He was curious about the box when I brought it home.
But he seemed a bit skeptical when he saw what was in it.
I'll give some assembly tips in case anyone is thinking of buying this. At $140 shipped, it's a cheap one, but I don't want to spend a ton just to find out he hates it. I can't really review the product as I haven't used it yet. This comes mostly in one piece with just a few parts to assemble.
The tow bar comes folded under the trailer. Just remove the pin, rotate the tow bar outward and reinsert the pin.
The axles slide in pretty easily. You just have to put in a pin to secure each of them.
The axle has a nut and two washers. Just remove them, slide the wheel on and put all 3 on outside the wheel. Secure with a wrench.
The top of the trailer is easy to open. Just lift each side until they are open and vertical.
The hardest part is installing the roll bar as the material covering the frame is pretty tight. The best bet is to insert one knob, then tighten it into one side of the bar. You then have to push pretty hard to get the bar against the tubing on the other side. It helps to push it on further down the frame tubing, then slide the bar up to the knob hole.
It also comes with a flag pole and a short leash that hooks to the inside of the trailer. This may unfortunately be necessary to keep my dog from chasing cars and people.
Well I had to bribe him with a carrot, but he got in pretty easily. I have it propped up on a toolbox for now. I plan to slowly ease him into a bike ride. First I want it to be like a bed. I'll see if he's OK towing it around the house before attempting it on the road.
Stay tuned for dog bike adventures! Well I hope this works out. Oh I should mention the tires have Schrader valves (of course). I just don't have my own Schrader pump so I will have to wait for my tenant to come home and borrow his.
I went ahead and put it on my bike. If you have quick release wheels, this assembles easily. It has a nut that goes onto the axle. The tow bar hooks on to the nut with a pin. I think I might need a wider axle for the wheel now.
I'm getting a Belgian Malinois next month and was thinking of ways to let him join my rides. This could work. While he's still a puppy at least.
Oh that dog may get pretty big. He should love a trailer when he is still a puppy. If he gets too big, the trailer is still good for hauling stuff.
I love dogs and I wish I could do it as well, especially with my Senior dog Perla. Unfortunately where I live it’s very hilly. Sometimes I have to carry her in my arms as she cannot walk up the steep hills anymore...
Enjoy the rides guys! 😁👍
I am lucky to live in a mostly flat area, other than some bridges. At least your dog is still able to make it on some rides, even if you have to carry her.
Cuteness overdose. I would definitely love to see your dog riding this like a boss! Hahaha, I hope he enjoys it! Cheers!
Thanks! He likes it so far but I've kept it stationary. He jumps in when I point and say "get in the trailer." I'll wait a couple days for him to really get used to it before trying it outside.
thank you
A dog’s shoulder blades are unattached to the rest of the skeleton to allow greater flexibility for running.
Interesting tidbit!
Your dog is so beautiful, I believe it will love this gift.

What a cool looking dog! My dog Shykis also came to us when my wife adopted her from the streets of Mexico City, almost nine years ago.
I'm sure Sebastian will love his gift, especially once it gets associated with fun outings (where he doesn't have to run for long distances). I know Shykis would be psyched. She loves to go out (naturally) but gets tired after an hour or so, also normal for her age.
Thanks! He's adorable and obedient when it's just me and him, but he has issues with strangers. I can't let people pet him.
He's a handsome boy! Hope Sebastian enjoyed it!
Thanks! It's raining all week so I won't be able to take him outside yet. For now I just have him hop in and pull him back and forth in the dining room. He stays in as long as I tell him to.
