Oh man its so hard!
You want attention, but at your terms only. The minute someone, or really anyone, tries to love them BOOM. The illusion is ruined.
No bueno.
They need to nap like 16 hours a day AT LEAST and at the right time to make sure they're up for their nightly terrorizing. Otherwise, what's the point?
Not to mention the cleaning! After a human does manage to pet and/or pick you up, you are no longer clean!
You smell like the person, like your their property!
Also no bueno.
And if they don't wake up the humans before their alarm, that's a missed opportunity! You missed out on being the boss (at least temporarily).

Its a lot of pressure, you see.
