Not before using a shirt to pick him from the road up into the sidewalk. I doubt he knew what a busy road he decided to take... Really resisted the urge to pick him up and cry from joy/pain as I rub him against my cheek.
Yes they are! When I was younger I relocated one and it was so friendly. I held it and fed it. Yes it was prickly, but it didn't hurt, and they're so soft underneath.

It's not rural here, they're "domesticated" imho, so they're very fearful of human contact. It's a shame because I'm full of love for little critters.
It's almost rural. Urban wildlife. They fear humans same as feral urban cats.
