CURIOUS FACTS CONTEST #5 THE MOST DIVERSE COUNTRY ON THE PLANET

in #curiousfacts7 years ago

030-historical-places-in-nigeria.jpgDid you know there is a country with over 500 tribes and where over 500 languages are spoken? well, if you said Nigeria you would be right. It’s one of the most populous countries in Africa but while Nigeria is a very diverse country the are some major facts so many don’t know about the country. So here are a few worth mentioning

24/7 POWER SUPPLY IS A MYTH
I had to write this article in a span of two days thanks to a major factor which has always been there right from the beginning. If your question is what could that be? my answer would be the famous electric power outage. it’s a norm over here not to expect power always and when the power does come on you better make the best use of it as it is not assured how long it will be for or when it will be back when it’s out. If you run a biz that requires electricity you better have a generator or a solar installed. 24/7 electric power supply is a dream we one day hope it would be fulfilled, a dream that feels like sending a man to mars while it may be possible it doesn’t seem it will be done anytime soon.

BLACKLIST
Lots of people might not know this.Being a Nigerian online entrepreneur is a very herculean task as we have been associated with scams in the past (I do believe scammers are everywhere though) which has made things pretty difficult for honest Nigerian alike. We are blacklisted from famous programs like Amazon affiliate, Clickbank amongst many. Even the famous PayPal service has a restriction on Nigeria. That is to say, a Nigerian PayPal account can only be used to spend funds and money but can’t be used to withdraw, it’s a one-way stream for us. Weird right?

SUPERSTITOUS
We are very superstitious people it is just the truth can’t argue that even though I think it’s really ridiculous and sometimes hilarious when I hear my dad say thinks like we don’t fetch food from the cooking pot while it’s still on the fire it’s an accursed thing or things like if you get wiped with a broom you going to stay single for life cause it a cursed act? Here are the list of a few
*we don’t let babies look at themselves in the mirror as we believe it will give them nightmares
*you don’t under any circumstance collect stuff with your left hand; that’s just plain rude
*if you hit your foot against a rock while walking that just bad luck.
*if your palm inches it’s a sign that your about to get some money.
And so many more

HOPEFUL
No matter how much of a hell hole Nigeria feels like sometimes truth is we are just not programmed to be suicidal, it’s not just in our DNA. We have a saying that goes “when there’s life there’s hope” so we rather suffer till eternity hoping and struggling for a change than to think suicide. Little wonder why some would rather walk the deserts of Libya risking their lives or risk getting caught into enslavement just for greener pastures than commit suicide. We believe life is not over until it is and anything can happen in-between.

These are just to mention a few that stands really stand out amonsgt many but nevertheless Nigeria still has its awesome features its diversity make traveling within the country a unique experience with its rich and divers arts and culture and beautiful natural landmarks.
