RE: @curie has supported you - You might want to consider a witness vote!

in #curie7 years ago

So you think that because the curie account chose to vote for some of our posts they have bought the right to our witness votes? You are endorsing a form of bribery?

I thought the curie project was intended to support quality content on the blockchain that was going unrecognized, not to bribe people to vote for their witness.

I wonder what the core of @curie thinks of your attitude.

Sort:

I will repeat the comment given to the above:

The @curie upvote DOES NOT come with a price.

I am not part of @curie's witness, I just think it's a great project that has supported so many.

And so for the 1% who think this is 'shameless' or a 'bribe', i'm willing to take that hit for highlighting their need for support while bid-bots and shit content rules the roost.

Thank you for being honest.

Well, if I'm being honest, I think making a single post with this many user tags is pure spam, not just in poor taste. You could have made an impassioned plea for people to support curie for witness--without tagging a single person, instead of implying that curie had a right to our votes because they voted some of our content.

I think you are way out of line here and I sure hope Curie thinks so also!

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, and I respect your willingness to give it.

I humbly disagree that I 'implied that curie had a right to our votes'.

"@curie has supported you - Now it is your turn!" I think, personally, that the entire Title is more than just an implication. By inferring this attitude, you attempt to make people feel bad about how they are utilizing the system. I think that's the shame-ful part of it. Bex is right in implying that you can do this in a better way.

I have changed the title of the post in the hope that it reduces any implication / shame.

There is always a better way to do say and do things, and I, like many will continue to live and learn this along the way.

Thanks for your comments.

Much better title! :)

It is still unethical, not just to me but I'm certain to others on this list, to be publicly shamed like this and having their hand forced by making this list of users. Especially to new member of Steem that may not know what's going on. If you really want to support Curie, write about why you think they should get more witness votes, not pressure users into making the vote.

I share @anikekirsten's sentiments here, especially about the blind witness voting. You could have simply left off "who have NOT voted for @curie" on your list to at least take the accusatory edge off. Surely there are other methods to appeal to the folks on the list.

Yeah, I'm one of those who hasn't done any witness voting, because I don't understand the concept and I'm not informed on all the people doing it. Being publically shamed as an ungrateful slacker isn't a very good persuasion tactic.

Oh no! I hate that people read this and took it as an attack. I believe that the idea was to bring the matter to peoples attention that don't know about voting for witnesses. Not to call them free loaders.

Voting is a very important aspect of being on Steemit and should never be done blindly...I have only used maybe 17 of my 30 votes and have looked into every single one.

I believe this post was intended to point out that a witness that supports a lot of individuals in this community (even if it is done silently), needs our help...our that support may not exist anymore. So to look into them and see if they are someone you would like to support.

Curie is all about the community and I truly believe @abh12345 was trying to bring attention to them in their time of need. Not to single anyone out or force someone's hand.

If anyone has questions about witnesses, DM me...I'm a nobody but I will help anyone I can.

For the record curie is not asking individuals to vote for them because they had their post upvoted...to punish a wonderful organization over a misunderstanding would be a true shame...I hope you all would agree.

I have no objection to the purpose or the good intention behind the post and I don't believe either I or the poster I quoted said anything about punishing @curie. My issue is that barging into a room with a gun drawn as you announce your message is guaranteed to put the people in it on the defensive, and the message inevitably comes off as a demand rather than the intended "encouragement". I wouldn't have even minded having my name tagged if it wasn't in a post declaring "I'm calling you lot out". That's unnecessarily aggressive wording for a "first offense" type post and so my initial reaction was "WTF is this?" rather than "oh wow I'm so glad he brought this up."

With all that said, next time I get on the computer I'll happily look into helping @curie out, because I'm not the type to hold grudges. I'm simply pointing out that a more diplomatic approach may be a better idea to avoid alienating folks. Save the guns for later rather than leading off with them, you know?

@abh12345 does get props from me for taking the assorted feedback gracefully 😉 I'm impressed.

I totally get what you are saying and agree...the punishing curie was not directed at you or the comment above, but someone else further down...I should have made two comments, I apologize! Scrolling down this page is just too much work 😂

Good point. Thank-you for sharing. I a trying to learn to live and communicate non-violently. Your point brings to my attention the violence within it. So much to learn here.

Thanks.

I've read all the remarks, including the 'son of a bitch' and 'asshole' comments. And actually, so has my Mother.

I'm glad to hear that you, and others will take a look into curie and witnesses in the future.

Thank you.

I'm saddened that people feel this post was an 'attack' or 'a shaming', it really was not the intention.

I'm glad to have your support and understanding today, thanks again.

what she said :)

Seeing the comments, the evidence of this pressuring is apparent. Informed witness votes are encouraged. What about the users who still don't fully understand what witnesses do and why their votes matter? You've advocated for blind witness voting. And, I'd argue, probably negatively affected Curie's name on Steem.

At the head of the post, is the link to @curie's plee.

With this information you should be able to make an informed assessment of if the project is worth your vote.

Thank you for your comments.

I already know how to, I'm speaking for those who might not. Appealing to "considering the Other." I voted Curie's witness as soon as the witness was up about. You could have led with info to help people toward making informed decisions and leave out the tag-spamming and shaming.

I could have left the tags out, but then curie would not have had 30+ additional witness votes yesterday.

Some people feel shamed, others are thankful to be made aware.

Was my post ever going to please everyone? No

Did it produce a positive response as far as votes and delegations to curie. Yes.

I'll take the 'son of a bitch' and 'asshole' comments for the team if it means more support for a witness that has helped and supported so many.
