For my own personal votes as those high value votes, requires a warm feeling of identity not stolen, and music not stolen. I'm defining a method that this can be done as we speak and want to start a verification project. It may indeed happen, I define to be verified first for a vote,. It is up to the user who post music, if they want to be verified or not. It'll probably as simple as that.
BTW: it is pretty short sided when saying: when positing on Soundcloud, doesnt bring money. Selling a product, service or art (which is a product) requires marketing. Even most of the (top) professional musicians in the electronic music segment are using Soundcloud to promote their newest albums and EPs, and they upload their recorded sets for promoters to listen to. In the more POP side of the music industry, many bands and singers use YouTube channels to promote their work. When someone is only thinking in posting music because you get some hard dollars for it, and leave all the other elements to make a business successful out of the equation, an artist probably will not become successful at all.
Nice points there, an artist should do more. I just think doing it simultaneously can be not too encouraging. But all said, I support the motion that artists should be verified cos of theft.
It's the reality of being an artist today. We have to have multiple streams of income if you want to actually eat. We street perform, teach and are gearing up to do more live shows which is where it still really counts at the end of the day.
Online is great for promotion but you still have to be able to put on a solid performance in front of a crowd if you want to actually make money in the 'real' world. Just my 2 cents :-]
fact there, God help us all.
Hi, thanks for writing this informative article. Just joined so have a quick question-does the order of the tags matter? Should I have #music first or does it not matter?
doesn't matter
