METTA - A Cinematic Travel Video
The Muktivat Crew spent three weeks exploring the Portuguese island of Madeira. During their journeys, they captured some breathtaking drone footage and photos to share with us all. In doing so they uncovered some spots that may not have been visited up close by humans in decades. At times they literally bent (fell) over backwards to get some of the shots while risking life and limb.
Alex finally replied: "I'm ok, but that was a really close call, guys!" Later he explained that he had fallen head down backwards and hence with no orientation.
Sometimes that perfect shot can take a lot more effort and be a lot riskier than you realize.
MUKTIVAT is a collective of digital nomads and practical engineers. We haven chosen to explore this world and seek inspiration, insight and interaction. For this quest, good companionship is a vital foundation. We work individually and we work together – and call this style of co-living and co-working “Offroad Office”.
Off the record: We have really no idea where this journey is taking us or if it leads to anything at all - but one thing is for sure: half the fun is getting there and if we fail, you will read about it here :)
Be sure to follow the @muktivat page to keep up with the team and all of their future adventures and awesome content.

Exploring Antarctica via SUP
Images used with the permissions of @mtnsurfps
If someone were to ask you, "What is your dream job?," what would come to mind? Fabulous movie star? World-class Athlete? Teacher? (Yes, some crazies out there do consider it their dream job.) Did no one say Stand-Up Paddleboard Guide and Instructor in Antarctica? It didn't come to my mind, either, until after reading this terrific post from @mtnsurfps .
After reading what it is they do for a living, I understood much more why they feel it is their dream job. Not only do they get to go out and experience the raw, mostly untouched regions of Antarctica on a regular basis, but they get to bring people out there to experience it for the first and quite possibly their only time ever. She gets to walk on ice that perhaps no human has ever tread on, meet up with whales occasionally, and bring others along with her to have the same experience. What more could you want from your career? Of course, you will have to put up with some frigid temperatures, but with views like the one seen in the above image, I am not sure I would even notice how cold I was.

This posting is to give folks a bit of an insight of my job that I do consider a "dream job." I work year-round paddle boarding - in the winter months in Antarctica and in the spring/summer/fall I have my own business, Mountain Surf Paddle Sports, in which I give instruction and guided tours. - @mtnsurfps

Musical Cents
Images used with the permissions of @custone
We move away from the great outdoor adventures for this next featured post and prepare for a musical interlude.
This post has many gaps and leaves too much unclear and unexplained, but I hope it conveys my passion for unusual tunings, while also hinting at the virtues that led to the worldwide adoption of ordinary chromatic 12edo. - @custone
If you are a musician or just interested in musical scales and out of the ordinary range of knowledge, then sit back, relax, and enjoy this in-depth, educational, and entertaining read.
In the post @custone shares the first installment of his "tuning notes," in particular, cents.
Cents are a convenient unit of measure you can use to quantify the tuning or mistuning of musical intervals.
Along the way he includes links to performances using the different tunings he describes in the text.
While much of this knowledge went over this non-musician's head, our Curie in-house Maestro @carlgnash settled in and loved every minute of it, saying, "While this is pretty technical and dense in places, your obvious mastery of and enthusiasm for this subject kept me enthralled." In reading what Carl had to say about this, I am certain we will soon be listening to new videos of him implementing many of the things he learned from this post.

The Magical Dilemma of Adapting To
and From Games, Movies and Books
We wrap up this week's Author Showcase with a great post from @shadowolfdg, aka author, screenwriter, gamewriter, journalist, and poet Shaun M. Jooste. He is the mind behind the Silent Hill novels who is currently working on novels based on the Diablo games as well as Fallout 4 game.
What started out as a small post really grew to something massive. And this does not even cover all the elements of story adaptation, but it is something you need to be aware of if you are either a writer wanting to adapt, or part of the audience that thinks adaptations suck balls. - Jooste
Jooste, being a man that wears many hats, is able to give us his unique perspective on adaptational works. He breaks things down in great detail, explaining what goes into a book, a film or TV script, and a video game. He further breaks it down into categories such as Retelling a Story, The Length of a Story, Format of a Story, and much more, based on each platform.
If you aspire to be an author, screenwriter, or gamewriter, this is a must-read filled with a plethora of information that could take you to the next level.
This Curie Author Showcase was written by Curie Curator @randomwanderings (Gene) with input from other Curie curators and reviewers. Author permission was sought and obtained from all authors featured in this showcase. All works are the copyright of their respective authors and used with permission.
You summarised my post beautifully. Thank you
Thanks. Hopefully many will click through and read the entirety of the post. It really is just loaded with a ton of information that any aspiring writer can take something useful away from. Thanks again for allowing us to share it.
Thank you for the honour to be in this showcase! Highly appreciated :) We will try our best to keep a high standard to what we contribute to Steemit!
You guys rock! Really enjoyed everything about that post. And you seem to know how to have a good adventure :) Much love - Carl
Thanks for the love Curie! I can't wait to continue reading all your featured stories!
You're very welcome. It is well-deserved attention for you post and entire blog. I look forward to seeing more great stories and incredible scenery in your future posts.
These aee excellent choices.
I don't quite have ears for music so I will pass on the musical post. But the novelist and poet certainly strikes a chord.
I will keep tabs on the page. Thanks @curie.
You might still want to listen to the examples in the different tunings provided throughout the text on the @custone music post - it is really interesting to hear these "odd" notes (odd because we are used to hearing only the specific intervals / frequencies found in the "normal" 12 note scale). At first, it sounds sour or out of tune, but your brain quickly starts to make sense of it. Almost mind expanding :) Cheers - Carl
Oh wow, that media dilemma article is amazing! Thanks for featuring it.
That was one of my favorites. So much great information in there.
Yeah. Useful.
Your post tell how steemian make good post to get curation of curie. I like the photo what it say surf from @mtnsurfps
very good post,@curie
Very wonderful support for authors offering us all the best
Thank you my dear😍😍
Their writing and work are really great and good ... it's amazing to be part of @curie. Congratulations to the chosen ones.
writing is very remarkable, how do you put the photo on the side of your writing it?
Put this inside <> div class="pull-left" before your image, and /div inside <> after the image. You can change it from left to right. Then just play with where you put the text next to it and you will learn the best placement.
what @randomwanderings said but note you will have to remove the markdown that Steemit automatically inserts around the image URL when you do this. See below for example.
This will not work (or rather, it will have some funny symbols around the image and the image descriptor as follows):
<div class="pull left"> ![Curie Author Showcase transparency2.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmNNFr6F83dcJ93w2WteLEgXJmFZ4v1AsT2wXdR5isBDLn/Curie%20Author%20Showcase%20transparency2.png) </div>
So here is what the above code would look like - note the funny symbols around the image:
What you want to do is remove all the markdown from around the image URL inside the DIV tags as follows:
<div class="pull left"> https://steemitimages.com/DQmNNFr6F83dcJ93w2WteLEgXJmFZ4v1AsT2wXdR5isBDLn/Curie%20Author%20Showcase%20transparency2.png </div>
thanks
