Culture Vulture
The tag #culturevulture is a place where, here on Steemit, you can share something unique about your country with the world. Instead of being a post about travel or tourism this tag is about sharing local experiences.
August
For the second month of this challenge we have seen additional countries added to the featured list; we now have had participants from; Japan, Armenia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Nigeria, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Philippines, South Africa and Burma.
Aceh
The people from Aceh deserve a special mention this month. They have really taken to the challenge and shared some wonderful posts about Aceh traditions with us here on Steemit.
Read on to find additional details about two special upcoming announcements for next months competition. I will provide full details in the coming days.
A Special Tag
The posts you will find using this tag are not just travel posts, but posts that share cultural experiences. These are what I travel for and #culturevulture now brings them here to steemit.
1st Place 30 SBD
It was even more difficult to pick the winner this month, there were so many outstanding entries. There were several posts by the winner this month that could have won, I would urge you to check them out @sweetpea. She is putting out some great content.
The winning this post this month tales us on a visit to the Zulu people of South Africa.

Congratulations @sweetpea on winning the competition, 30 SBD is on the way.
Notable Mentions 5 SBD
The other posts in this challenge generally covered several categories; Festivals, Ceremonies, Food, Traditions and Sites
Unfortunately there could only be one winner but several posts deserve notable mentions and will each get 5 SBD
Festivals
Every country or region you travel to have different festivals, and national or local celebrations. They may commemorate a significant even in the history of a people or may be a cultural ritual.

Traditions
Traditions can be passed down from generation to generation and may have a symbolic meaning or cultural significance. Clothes, Dress, Food, local Holidays, Passtimes. The Tambo is a traditional means of signalling to the people of Aceh certain events.

Food
Food is close to my heart and the types of food we eat, when we eat it, who we eat it with clearly distinguish different peoples. What is that food you long for from home when you travel?
There were many contributions from Aceh this month, covering traditions, food, heritage, preservation, music and much more. This following post captures an important part of Aceh culture and also gives some insight into why Steemit is a perfect fit for the Aceh community and why is has taken off there to such a great extent. It's a perfect fit in many ways for a very popular cultural passtime.

Art
Art expresses a people like no other medium. I bet you visit gallaries when you travel! Every time I visit a place I like support local artists by buying some work.
I wasn't sure which category to include this following post under; Art, Food, Festivals, Traditions. One thing for certain it deserved a mention!!!

September Challenge
For the full announcement about next months challenge you will have to wait a few more days, but here is a sneak peak.
Discord
We have found a new home, a community on discord where you will be able to feast on even more culture. It will also be a place where you will be able to chat with cultural loving locals. Ask travel advice, local holidays, cultural events or even the best time to travel.
This should be up and running by next week, I will give further details about this when its ready.
Weekly Incentives
There is also a very exciting new addition for next months challenge. Each week some of the best posts will be picked for some special attention, and increased coverage and promotion. This will open up a whole new audience for your posts.
I am just finalising the details but I will also make an announcement about this in Septembers announcement post in the coming days.
If you wish to support this challenge you may write an article, donate to the monthly prize fund, resteem or most importantly check out the tag from time to time and comment and upvote peoples posts. Thank you for reading. I will post about this months competition in a few days but any posts from today on that have the #culturevulture tag will be included in this months competition.

Africa is a host of opportunity especially within this digital era. And with platforms like "Steemit", digital education should be facilitate in this part of the world to present opportunities of this nature to the vulnerable and poorer population. Glad to see Nigeria and South Africa in there.
