It was a day of high temperature and humidity when I had visited Seoul.
The humidity is 100 times worse than the high temperature in Seoul.
Sweat was pouring out from all my sweat glands due to the high humidity. It made me tired.
The climate of these days is quite different to before. Especially the climate change in the city is making me much more tired than rural area.
In the rural area, you can escape from high temperature and humidity.
Under the trees, you can rest and enjoy the wind from the mountain.
Unfortunately, It is all but impossible to enjoy resting under the big trees. Much more bad thing is that there was no wind in the city.
You need to endure against the high temperature and humidity.
The only savior is the air conditioner. People in the city are getting together into the Cafe.
Cool wind are blowing from air conditioner.
What I want to post is the result of the air conditioner.
By chance I got into a small alley in the street, there I could look at the so wierd scenery.
It was the hidden face of the city.
The Front part of the building was clean and nice, but the side and the behind of the building was far from this nice and awesome scenery.
Below was the real face of the city.
The outdoor unit of the air conditioner emitted the heat to the street.
Air conditioner make the city life worse
We have lived in this city.
The city has many faces, and this face looks like close to the true face of the city.
A poignant post, @slowwalker. As we say in Toronto, it's not the heat, but the humidity. We are on the shore of Lake Ontario and the humidity can make an 80 degree day feel like 100.
The saving grace is that we are called the city of trees. We are often compared to New York and many movies that are supposedly made in New York are shot here. But, unlike New York, we have an urban forest - a lovely tree canopy
You should visit. We have the fourth-largest Korean diaspora population in the world.
I agree with you about heat in the city. The population density and lack of space add to the heat emanating from the concrete and the industrial pollution. I often observed that you can have poverty in the countryside, but not squalor, slums or intolerable living conditions. The trees purify the air and the open spaces allow the Earth to breathe.
Your photos document the hidden side of the city - believe it or not, it was worse in the early 1900's with telegraph and telephone lines and electrical wires strung up on poles everywhere.
I noticed from your past posts that Seoul is making strides in creating pedestrian walkways and car-free zones, so perhaps things are slowly getting better.
An insightful post, @slowwalker
Thank you for your thoughtful comment
you're very welcome, @slowwalker
Yes. You are very perceptive and capture your perceptions very well. India is worse. This is the true face of tech.
This is just the floor in my office...
But now to take it a step further...
The true face of these material bodies...
I see it's well wired
lol
Holy crap!!!
Nice post...amazing korea city
I found your page because you like one of my post, and you're doing a great job keep going ! Follow and upvote :)
My wife @sarahjanele just went to Korea sever months ago and she shared the experiences that had changed her life. I would hope the people there find tools such as this to kelp them out of much of oppression that face.
@slowwalker Great photos
Now a day air conditioners are the main culprits behind the ozone depletion, even they also have a bad impact on our health but people only want relaxation , they do not think about the future impact of it.
Global warming is destroying the earth!
Interesting photos and very hot summer in Seoul thanx for sharing @slowwalker.....
nice post great pictures
Korean city looks a lot like New York or somewhere like that. Hmmm...
i love how you notice this. I often pay attention to the ugly things that people don't bother to look at and wonder how long it's been since anyone has paid attention to them.
@slowwalker Within scientific journals, global warming refers to surface temperature increases while climate change includes global warming and everything else that increasing greenhouse gas levels affect. A related term is "climatic change".
And I really like your articles!!
You deserved from me :)
Uptove+follow!!

thank you so much
i'm i the only one who thinks it looks good ? x)
climate change can be harsh
global climate change ..hmmnnn whether we humans are speeding it up or not global warming is bound to happen. and we humans or CO2 emissions are not to blame. there were no cars or high CO2 emissions as we have now when Dinosaurs were wiped out. don't give in to mind control. @slowwalker we all crave summer in winter and crave Autumn in summer..))))
lol
Absolutely well said @slowwalker : This is the true face of the city , wires and pipes everywhere at the backstage just to have a decent/beautiful look in the front!
All these heat emitted by the AC surely contributes to more heat on the street!
Sad but true!
Cheers
@progressivechef
thank you
Global climate change is an impending catastrophe! We already know why - people who continue to use fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas.
We already know some of the effects of global warming - the melting of polar ice caps, rising ocean temperatures, prolonged drought, the spread of dangerous epidemics, massive floods, coral bleaching and big storm surges. We also know who will be most affected - coastal States, Island States and less developed regions such as Southeast Asia.
Over the years we have been continuously releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by using fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and petroleum. This has led to an increase in the natural blanket of the world, which leads to rising world climate temperatures, and unpredictable climate change is also deadly. Greenpeace believes that only a systematic and radical step in greenhouse gas emissions reductions can prevent climate change that could result in more damage to the world's ecosystems and the inhabitants that live there.
Sounds like a great experience! I guess you might call it traveling with style :P @slowwalker
I live in Australia and it's cold here! I miss the summer :]
I want to say something a little bit different but with this pics is impossible for me no talk about it, usually in big cities one thing is the face showing for tourism and other is the real face and culture practice for any citizen, in this case we can see in each photo what i mean. And yes this issue with the air conditioning is common in big cities but always you cand find a new idea
meep
It is the worst when the temperature is really high as well as when the air is humid.
It feels like you are walking underwater but instead of water it is the sweat and heat that saps and drains all your energy.
Annoying to see how the air conditioning units are placed outside to make the already hot streets even hotter.
I always drench myself in water and I always stay hydrated.
I hope everything is all going well @slowwalker
Hey. Good to see Seul from other side for a change :) You always come across only those nice pictures trying to show what a city it is.
I think this problem with conditioning is very common in large cities where temperature and humidity is high. People often overuse them and all the heat from all the buildings getting outside makes life really hard for everyone.
Anyway, excelent post and thanks for sharing with us. Always looking forward to seeing new stuff from you. Have a nice Sunday!
Nice post that where govt, have to look at.
I would love to have some umidity in Bucharest...
It's so hot
Great photos taken. In Nepal monsoon has just taken step and here no more hot. I think you travel so much. That's interesting.. upvoted
So true! Most cities have another face that we seldom see!
these photos have a very futuristic feel to them :) upvoted, keep up the great work @slowwalker
Ohhh. It looks fascinating, but what really leaps out of the photos everywhere are all the ugly wires and cables. It just says to me how humanity is killing all that is beautiful on this planet.
It's probably not the comment that is welcomed, but that is what I see. I guess the people haven't the funding to be able to design and build safer and better.
wow you took traveller's life from another perspective i like that.
Modern day necessary evil. Hong Kong is even worse as it is hotter than in Korea. Maybe people should go back to using hand held fans :)
Good experience. This feels like India.
Hate humidity it makes life horrible. But I miss summer, here in Australia is freeeeezing, brrrrr. Wow so many wires, pipes...don't look good at all.
You're right. We can live well without air conditioner not too many year ago. The vicious circle keeps repeating.
Cool story and nice post, Followed.
i really love your blogs it makes me want to visit Korea and i will come in a couple of years -my wife is Japanese and we visit every two years, so next time we will come to Korea as well- Hope to meet you then - or you can always visit us in Australia -David
Damn! Those Units make the street hot like Hell!!!
Nice bro👏✌
Summer is horrible! Nice post and photos. Thanks.
All the air ducking has been add from the outside, cause of the concrete construction... funny and look ugly duh!
Surprised the place hasn't burned from an electrical fire.
This is not limited to Seoul. Actaully this is the face of every other city in the world especially those cities we call 'metro cities'. Air conditioned have become a necessity and without it's not possible to run any business or even survive in temperature of metro cities. This is the reason of Global warming increasing at every high pace.
Cities a much more concentrated that rural areas and that does make them hotter by a few degrees. Add humidity to that and oh boy you almost have a small tropical climate!
Makes things quite ugly :(. So much air conditioning/duct work going on here
good work bro
its the same here in EU ;(
Thank you for this article where I can see the reality. I would be so bad in coping in such weather. It's never very warm here so that would hit me with a nasty bang,
Thats why I prefer Siberia, nearly 0% of huminity in winter makes -35 cold not cold and 35 hot not hot. Looking to the other side as you did was informative to see. Thanks!
You always make pictures that make me think a lot. And what the world will be like today or tomorrow.
They have that deep meaning behind them.
One cold resteem for you, my friend. I hope situation in this city and some other problematic cities improves somehow.
