The Yin-Yan Pholosophy of Architecture in Choson Dynasty and Where The Queen Jung Suun had grown up.

There was an old korean traditional house next to the birthplace of Queen Jung Suun. It looked similar to the birthplace of Queen. But this house was little bit smaller than the birthplace.

Queen Jung Suun had lived here until she married and to be a Queen.

The main gate was typical style of noble family's house.

The wall was beautiful

The chimneys were also impressive to me.
There were 2 kinds of chimneys. I have seen the first style of the chimney many times.

20171005_141547.jpg

But it was the first time for me to see that kind of style as below
The roof of the barn was made up of dried rice straw.
Dried rice straw roof made my mind comfortable.

I could see the inside of the house through opened gate.
You might know how this house was old at first glance.
522

There were 2 buildings inside of the house. The first was barn and the room for the guests.

In Choson Dynasty there was no hotel to sleep and rest for travelers. So When travelers needed to rest at evening, they would've request to stay in any house.
So wealthy noble family used to prepared the room and food for travelers.
Travelers were welcomed. Especially travelers of noblemen were welcomed.
Travelers of noblemen would have dinner with a master of house.
With having a dinner, they played with making rhyme and writing calligraphy.
Making rhymes was a common culture between noblemen.
In Korea, noblemen were cold as "Yan Ban".
Here Yang Ban are the family who could be officials as civil service officials and military officials.
They were basically intellectuals in Choson Dynasty.

Below is the building for the master of this house. In Choson Dynasty, the place of male and female were strictly divided.
Especially the women were prohibited to enter into men's space except special situation.

The metal drum was hung. It is traditional music instrument.

Unfortunately I could not enter into women's space.
The families were living there until now and doors were closed for privacy

Anyway I could see the typical and representative men's household among architectures in Choson dynasty.

Yin Yang Philosophy predominated over every life in Choson Dynasty

very cool photos @slowwalker I love the architecture's design.

@edolo, i am new in the Steemit, i followed. Yes, the architecture is beautiful!

a multitude of photos today, @slowwalker!

The Queen's house where she lived until she married truly incorporated many elements of the yin-yang philosophy.

The main gate represents the boundary between the private and public aspects of the Queen's life.

All the interior doors and windows would face the courtyard rather than the public street.

One can see a quest for yin-yang balance in the geometric walls and buildings which represent yang and the garden which represents yin.

The separation of women from men and is a Confucianist principle and also part of the yin-yang philosophy.

Each sex and each class of society had their own space.

There is a constant tension between the need for privacy and the desire to be hospitable to travellers.

The different styles of roofs and chimneys was an oddity - the hot metal chimney pipe in close proximity to the dry rice straw was a fire hazard and may account for the fact that so many houses of this period have burnt down and been lost.

There's a plethora of photos, @slowwalker and you've done an admirable job of capturing the essence of the Queens houses in this photo essay.

Outstanding work!

The chimney pic is my favorite.

Thank you for your comment

you are welcome my friend and keep up the great work...always enjoy your posts...more blessings

The concept of Yin & Yang originated from Chinese philosophy, the term itself was translated from the Mandarin pronunciation of shadow and light.

Wow, thanks, I thought it is a man and a woman, like two opposite gender energy. Chinese has own symbols that we Western society could translate wrongly.

even if the house is old,, but it still very nice and beautiful,, I only wish I could have a house that looks like that from the outside,, concerning the inside I will take care of it my own way..

Yes my own works

Very nice, I'm sorry for asking, but there are too many people here not posting original works

Great post history. Thank for sharing @slowwalker

Very beautiful house! :)

All Japanese, Chinese and korean historical buildings looks similar to me.

That may be true to some extent, but Japanese originally left China, reinvented the language, etc, etc. Korea is very close to China but I don't know enough history about Korea to understand. Building styles are slightly similar but have branched beyond what I would call "innovative". Definitely beautiful architecture.

all about the minute differences. makes them even more fun to look at!

Hello my good friend! As always, I'm happy to read your story. I am inspired by your posts. I really like your photos and the way you talk about them. I like what you write from the heart. Thank you very much, I am taking an example from you. I wish you and your family good luck and success.

It's amazing to see these buildings still standing strong after so many years my friend! I am very impressed as usual!
I would love to live in such a place my friend, especially under such a nice roof with the rice straw roof!
Wonderful photography again!

Amazing

Definitely an interesting post! It's great to learn about something new. And it's cool to see this. Thank you ^^

Interesting how the men and women are divided. Does this Yin Yang philosophy come from Taoism?

Technically, the Yin-Yang School [of thought] and the Daoist School emerged separately overly 2000 years ago. However, over time concepts associated with the Yin-Yang School, the Daoist School, and Buddhism merged together, creating the Daoism we see today. By the time Daoism reached Korea, it would have undergone the larger part of this merger.

Thank you, I didn't know that :)

Sure thing. :)

I remember some game,if i saw yin and yan,btw this culture have many history years ago @slowwalker
