It is my favorite hobby to take the photos where I am looking around. Some days ago I had visited one shrine of Choson dynasty which is located in Seoul.
The name of the shrine was Sajick Dan. That shrine was built for a pray for the agriculture to the Heaven. At the age of Choson dynasty, the agriculture was the basis of the National Economy.
In ancient times, they had sacrificed the king to hold the ceremony to the Heaven when drought was severe.
They believed that the Heaven did not give them rain when King did not his job well. Of course, it was so long time ago, may be prehistoric ages.
It is interesting, isn’t it. You can kill your king because of the drought. I ‘ve never want to be a king.
Any way Kings needed to serve the ceremonies for the Heaven when something happened.
That shrine is preserved well. It is located near the Blue House, the Office of the President.
Entrance
There is a inner wall and a door to the inside
This stone road is for the Heaven God
They closed the doors, so I couldn’t enter into the shrine
There is nothing special inside except an altar.
But the reason why they built the shrine is important.
It's because the King didn't want to be executed
LOL.
Of course not.
It is the symbol that Kings thought ordinary people's life as the most important thing in their work
These are beautiful photos, @slowwalker, and the shrine looks serene and peaceful.
Your post reminded me of yesterday when I was sitting in my garden. My wife and I did a lot of work to landscape it and plant trees and bushes. But as I sat there I realized we didn't really make the garden - we just arranged it.
The rain fell from the heavens and the sun shone through the summers. We planted and weeded but God gave the increase. That is the true Agriculture of Heaven.
In my tiny little garden I am king, but I am humble enough to know who really made the garden.
Take care, @slowwalker
It's sad, that they did not let you in. But nice photos, keep up good posts!

THX for information. If I go to Seoul, I will visit The War Memorial of Korea first and then I will go to this place.
The past is full of danger to human life. Well, that civilization and progress does not stand still!
🤒
한국인이신가..? ㅎㅎ 다 한국 글이네요
ㅎㅎ
You have any photos with Torii?
Wow, really very useful writing, because personally I am very interested in history, whatever its history, thank you my friend, and the picture you take is very beautiful. There is no relics at that time that still live, if still there, I hope you want to post it.
Thank you so much

It must be difficult to be a king in ancient times. Nice pictures @slowwalker.

Good as always, thanks!

If so, please share real and unedited photographs.

Thank you for sharing Korean history with us. I love the way the king felt that the common everyday man's life was of utter most importance as he governed. Wouldn't that be wonderful if our leaders felt that way?
Why not ?
A temple and exotic, I have often followed your post, it seems like you really like history and traditional building, thanks for sharing my friend @ slowwalker

A good Shrine, sure the farmers are very happy with the existence of the Shrine @slowwalker
Nice pictures thx for sharing with us
In all cultures there are rites for the rain, but I have never heard a story like this! Thanks a lot @ slowwalker
어휴 드뎌 제가아는 장소가 나오네요
넘 반갑습니다.
good urban view I think
Pity the shrine's doors where closed, but you're probably right that solely an altar is found inside .. or maybe not :)
Interesting post...as always
The King of Saudi, which is always dry, had a better chance of living then compared to the King of Choson Dynasty :)
I can't believe they actually used to sacrifice their Kings! Like you always hear stories about common people being sacrificed but a king... That's new to me! Tnx for the share!💖
I always like the symmetry on old structures. How are the rules over there when taking photos areas like this?
It is a wonderful house. It seems a bit lost in front of the new houses. And king, I would not be with these requirements also!
I don't agree with the killing part but I appreciate that in old cultures usually the ones having the power were also held reaponsible for what happened, good or bad. Unfortunately, I see now the ones having the power not caring about the other ones as they are untouchable.
Thanks for the interesting story, the legend. Very interesting.
