Tradition Kenduri Aceh Celebrate the Prophet's Mawlid
Aceh is one of the most dominant areas in Indonesia. In many cultural traditions that developed in the Acehnese community, commemorating the Prophet Muhammad SAW is the largest and lasted for three months. Soon, the people of Aceh will begin to celebrate the Prophet's Mawlid, which falls on January 3, 2015 in the Christian calendar, or 12 Rabiul Awal in the Hijri calendar.
Kanduri Maulod or Kenduri Maulid in Aceh society is closely related to the commemoration of the birthday of Pang Ulee (penghulu alam) Prophet Muhammad SAW, the last messenger of Allah SWT and the bearer and spreader of Islamic teachings. Because of this kenduri often also called Kanduri Pang Ulee.
Kenduri Mawlid by the people of Aceh is considered a tradition. It is based on the understanding that Prophet Muhammad SAW has brought mankind from the realm of ignorance to the knowledgeable realm of knowledge. The people of Aceh as followers of Islam perform Kenduri Maulid every month Rabiul Awal, Rabiul Akhir and Jumadil Awal.
Kenduri Maulid performed in Rabiul Awal is called Maulod Awai (Early Mawlid) starting from the 12th of Rabiul Awal until the end of Rabiul Awal month. While Kenduri Maulid performed in the month of Rabiul Akhir is called Maulod Teungoh (Middle Mawlid) which starts from the 1st of the month of Rabiul End until the end of the Rabiul Akhir. Furthermore, Kenduri Maulid in the beginning of Jumadil is called Maulod Akhee (the final mawlid) which is performed throughout the early Jumadil month.
The implementation of Kenduri Maulid based on the span of three months above has the aim that the people of Aceh can carry out the feast as a whole and evenly. So if in the month of Rabiul Awal has not been able to perform kenduri, in the month of Rabiul Akhir not yet able, then there is still a chance in the beginning of Jumadil month. Generally, the entire Acehnese community organizes Kenduri Maulid, only the timing of its different implementation, depending on the ability to organize from the community.
Welcoming the tradition of Kanduri Maulod in Aceh begins with shalawat, zikr and poems glorify Allah SWT and pray for salvation for Rasulullah SAW and his family, together with friends and for all Muslims. Shalawat, dhikr and poetry are brought by young men and women. The voices are summarized in the form of "Barzanji" which is one of the special features in the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad's mawlid in Aceh.
