This is My Late in Life Lesson

If Something Absolutely Needs to be Done

Over my 5 decades of life, I have claimed many times to not have enough time. Back in school my friends would pull all night study sessions and really stress out over getting it done. Not me I figured I am not getting paid so why bother. I know this is a horrible attitude for a student to have.

Luckily the Marine Corps gave me a much-needed attitude adjustment. I know the Military seems like a very structured life, with schedules to follow. Actually, it was a bit more chaotic with an adapt or die type of energy.

Patterns Developed, but I Missed Them

The Corps taught me if I was not 15 minutes early I was late. This serves me well as a civilian because I was never late to a job and met my professional obligations. Being an employee is very easy for me as I am good at mimicking people.

Being Self Employed is so much harder because there is no one to mimic. We have all found mentors to follow and help us along on our journey but ultimately it is up to us to shun all of the excuses and succeed, to our utmost potential.

We Must Be Problem Solvers

Having a good workaround for when things do not go to plan is essential. The best prevention for failure is knowing when your deadlines are and just getting them done early.

For example tonight at 7pm est I am doing a live stream about using the fluid-img class in Listnerds email code. I have everything already setup. All I have to do at 7 is log-in and start broadcasting.

Having this set up ahead of time will insure that I am successful in getting the live stream running on time. I have learned some hard lessons with content creation as well. A calendar must be used to plan out the month's content. Then it needs to be created and loaded into PeakD's scheduler. That way my articles always come out daily and on time.

I loved this post. Why? Simple to the point, got me to sign up to the list.

Great job.

Yes, one thing I have learned, showing up on time as an employee is late. If you don't want to advance then show no interest.

Showing up early is the easiest was to show your interest, that you are committed.

Back in my school days, I do things because I don't have a choice but now I can either decide to relax or do something else. But I am fighting that type of feeling, and I will win.

That is awesome thank you for sharing your struggle.
