It is good to start with inputs that contain 10 or more DMD. However the wallet automatically combines small inputs after 30 days of not staking, so it's really OK to begin with even smaller amounts. When I first started, my deposits were often less than 1 DMD. I had to wait longer but eventually all the inputs staked.
