We will help repatriate the Rohingya people from Bangladesh," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim quoted him as saying while briefing reporters after the meeting held at Ganabhaban here this afternoon.The Japanese foreign minister said they expect an agreement between Bangladesh and Myanmar to be signed on repatriation of the Rohingya people.Describing again the Rohingyas as the Myanmar citizens, the prime minister said Myanmar will have to take them back.Narrating the plight of the Rohingyas, especially women and children, Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh gave shelter to them on the humanitarian grounds.The premier said the hapless Rohingya people who fled to Bangladesh will be shifted to an island called "Bhasan Char" from Cox's Bazar. The Japanese foreign minister also assured that his country will continue to support Bangladesh to achieve its Vision 2021. He highly appreciated Bangladesh's cooperation for further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries. Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, PM's International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi, Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque and Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Rabab Fatima and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Hiroyasu Izumi were present on the occasion.
