We've seen it a million times in various cryptocurrency-related groups on facebook and forums online. Holding cryptocurrency tokens is an investment people! It's an investment and good investments take time to mature.
If you don't sell at a loss, you haven't lost a dime. It's that simple!
Unless you've put in the time to study technical analysis and understand the complicated world of investing in cryptos.
Just HODL.

If you invested 10,000USD in Ethereum at the beginning of this year, you'd have over a quarter of a million dollars. The same goes for Ripple and many other alt coins.
As cliché as it sounds, the message is simple:

Not sure what you mean by "hodl", do you mean hold? :)
It's an acronym for Hold On for Dear Life! You'll see it a lot more often now that is has been brought to your attention.
The other theory i've heard is that hodl was coined from someone misspelling the word hold on an early Bitcoin forum thread and thus, the word hodl stuck (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375643.0). I like this theory better because i have a similar situation in my life. Many years ago, I was to attend a fundraiser party. When the first poster was created, the word party was spelled patry. That was 11 years ago, and since then we have refered the event as the Patry. Anyway, sound advice. Welcome to the platform. I'm new here myself. Thanks for posting.

I just read your link and love your analysis. I understand that BTC hasn't quite broken the 3,000USD trend line but I have a completely different opinion and it has nothing to do with technical analysis. We both know that the hard fork has been averted but what would the value of BTC would be much higher if the software update was unanimous amongst bitcoin core and the miners. We are in uncharted territory and I personally don't think there is any way to predict where BTC would go. I don't think there is ever a bad time to buy BTC as it will continue to ride for the rest of eternity. Following and upvoted your post. Thank you!

STOPAlthough I do agree with you... I had ANT shares now rebranded as NEO. But the idea of owning btc for the fork to double your money or getting the equivalent in Bitcoin cash is too enticing. Unfortunately you will see others doing the same; so I think it will go down significantly between now and Aug 1st; then a sharp rebound immediately after; probably higher than what you bought it for since everyone will sell off their newly acquired BCC.
You shouldn't talk about Ripple as a "crypto". It is not. It's totally centralized. A corporate ponzi scheme, just like Bitconnect and many others.
Stick with legit projects, no matter what. Your money is your "vote" in this world.
