Introduction
Some time ago I posted about my interest in blockchain computing projects. One of the projects I discussed was Elastic or $XEL when they were due to release their litewallet client.
Well if you had invested at the right time in $XEL you could have tripled the value of your holdings:
The $XEL Price has more than tripled in the last week.
I believe there are a few reasons for it:
People who were dumping are mostly sold out of the market now and so a large proportion of people are long term holders like myself.
Crypto markets have gone back to a more bullish position and people are looking for new places to put Bitcoin profits after the new ATH. They are looking for the next big thing.
The word is spreading further about XEL and there are rumours of interest in Chinese markets.
XEL has a fixed supply (100m) and about 1/6th (17m) have not even been redeemed (possibly they never will) - making the amount about 1/10 of competitors like GNT.
XEL is a lot further in development than competitors like Golem.

Yes. I think it is still sleeping since most people have no idea about it.
I told my friend that we are still early birds to the crypto game and he finds it hard to believe. He thinks we are somewhat late to the game, that the early adopters are dudes that keyed in around 2011 to 2013 :)
It is a matter of perspective. I would say you are right because there is still huge growth potential. Even bitcoin is a tiny niche compared to the rest of financial sector.
I totally agree with this line of reasoning, I'm glad to join this year, so far, so good.

I have also invested in XEL sometime ago but I sold it on 20% profit and after that market crashed because of all that Bitcoin Segwit and Hardfork hype. I got out at very good timing , fortunately ! I think XEL is a good hold for longtime investors. A lot of people are investing in it and because of that Chinese speculation it is increasing in DEMAND. I am sure you have invested you money in one of he best investments in crypto market @thecryptofiend . Best of luck sir :)
Yes but you might regret selling for a 20% profit in the long term.
Actually sir, at that moment I got out at the right time but I bought back some when it was at lowest after the market crash. So I have some of it right now, may be their value would be around $250 right now and it keeps on increasing, so now I am holding it for long term.

Yes its too risky, but when we see the crypto's in general, there's always risk involved. We should learn to take calculated risks as far as I learn from life.

Absolutely. If you believe in a project for the long term it is worth buying. Just wait for a dip to buy, since there has been a rapid rise over the last week people will likely take profits and there will be a dip. That is the opportunity to get in.

Ohh, your prediction was right - now I'm thinking I should invest in WAVES, too, after your post the other day. There are so many exciting projects in crypto right now, I love it. Thank you for helping me learn more about some of the most promising ones!
NP but I am talking about long term investing rather than day trading. Day trading is a risky game, however if you invest long term in projects that have a sound development team and idea behind them then you reduce the risk of losing money quite significantly.
I definitely agree. I already have insomnia as it is so I don't need to take on day trading haha, HODLing a few quality tokens is my preference. On that note, I hope EOS will come down in price later in the year as the supply increases and hype cools off, I've been holding out for a drop... What are your thoughts?
Hard to say what the EOS price will do. It may never fall and may even go up if the whole market gets even more bullish and people are looking for the next coin to hit Ether levels.
One of the things that surprised me was that the first batch of tokens sold for the lowest price by a factor of about 3 compared to the next lowest price - luckily I put a small bid in then.
To spread the risk what I'm doing with EOS is buying up ETH whenever it dips and then sending small amounts to buy quantities in advance.
That way whatever the market does you reduce the effect of fluctuations.
So far I have buys spread out over 100 days. If you want to do this you will need to use the Metamask wallet as it allows you to bid for any of the days in advance:

It might also be worth putting some low buy orders on Kraken just in case there is a flash crash.

Elastic had a pretty good concept but I didn't know how widely adopted Elastic PL would be for programming. It seems like they have now found an audience and are starting to receive some support. I may invest when there is a dip since Elastic PL is in pretty early stages and if they introduce anything amazing the price may start to spike up.

I hope so! As long as Bitcoin is doing well it is good for alts in general.
Most altcoins seem to be thriving with this new confidence and investment into the markets.
I don't know why steem is struggling so much after bittrex and poloniex unfreezing their wallets.

i think a lot of the bitcoin investments still need to find their way into alts as lots of them are still massively undervalued compared to BTC. Look at ETH and ZEC for example both need to double in price almost to get to previous highs when BTC which were reached when BTC was way below 3K USD. Anyway nice post as always. Cheers

Sounds like it's worth looking into if there's wind of the chinese market being interested. They have a lot of dough to throw around and are always looking for good investment deals.
Yes it is only a rumour though. I think the great thing with XEL is that there is still very little awareness so it is an excellent sleeper coin. The best thing is it could launch (the full platform that is) before the end of the year if all goes according to plan and it will likely be a ninja launch due to the aforementioned point.

Too late... I bought 100 units. Now it will tank, like BCC after I bought that... I'm the kiss of death for cryptos lol!
Lol well it will likely dip anyway as people take profits anyway. I think if you hold it long term it will be a good investment - never any guarantees though. I'm not selling mine anytime soon.
I bought BCC at $310 expecting it to go back up to $700 later in the day so I could turn a quick profit... it's been going down since, I sold out at $240 and took the loss. Now it's about $175 the last I looked. Having something to hold long term sounds good. If not, all I'm out is $65.
Well it is always easier to make money on long term trades as long as you are investing in something which has a long term future.

Not sure you mean by that? Bitcoin is fluctuating like everything else. It is a mistake to presume it is continually going up - nothing does that and nothing ever will.
