Crypto Portfolio for 2018 - STEEM, IOTA and EOS

With 2017 close to the end I am thinking about the portfolio I want to build in 2018 and my current favourites are STEEM, IOTA and EOS in that order.

In my view all of these 3 blockchains/tangle have a great future ahead based on individual use case and most likely will increase in value overtime. The two main points I think will win over the majority of other coins out there are

  • No transaction fees.
  • Fast Transaction speed.

Top pick: STEEM

Since the first SteemFest last year I knew that the STEEM blockchain and community is unique in the crypto space and will have great success. Not only does STEEM already have a huge community and use case with blogging applications like Steemit and Busy but also a mobile app and Smart Media Token's coming soon.
While last year the majority of people using Steemit where from the US and Europe, one year later we have people using Steemit from all over the world.

This development in such a short timespan is impressive and I expect exponential growth going forward. Another valuable feature that makes Steemit mass adoption friendly is that accounts are actual names and not huge letters and numbers like with many other projects out there!

Summary: STEEM is my top pick because I don't know about any other crypto project out there with more active users and innovations in the pipeline. The user friendliness (e.g. actual account names) is a big plus which makes the Onbording process for new users much easier and therefore supports growth.

Second pick: IOTA

I have to admit I am a bit late to the party and missed IOTA entirely when it came out. Now that I know it I am very excited about the project since it is completely different from anything else. IOTA is not blockchain based but using a concept called DAP (Directed Acyclic Graph) or Tangle. While I don't fully understand the technical side the Tangle avoids the typical blockchain bottlenecks like miners and scalability issues. There seem to be demand from the car and telecom industry to integrate IOTA's network and micropayment abilities.

Summary: IOTA is my second pick because it is something new and an alternative to regular blockchain technology. The team behind IOTA is also very committed to push the technology forward and constantly innovates new features with the latest being private transactions.

Third pick: EOS

If you believe like me that Ethereum has a valid use case in running smart contracts and decentralised apps than EOS might be the something to look at. Based on the current information EOS will be able to manage more than 100.000 transactions per second and doesn't use transaction fees. These two features alone should drive many developers from Ethereum to EOS given the speed and fees on the Ethereum blockchain. There is still uncertainty however about the project since not released yet and these is a risk that nothing will happen with EOS after the 1 year ERC20 token purchase period. I see it has a small risk however but we all will only see the true potential once the project is live next year.

If all goes well however than I think EOS will become a top name in the smart contract and decentralised app world.

Summary: EOS is my third pick because it seems, on paper, to outperform the current smart contract giant Ethereum in every aspect. If the project becomes successful than I expect a good return of investment at current price levels (50 US cent)

There you have it, please let me know what you think and what are your favourite investments are for 2018.

Thank you and all the best!

I've been holding IOTA for quite a bit now and the progression seems to be pretty good. I love the tech behind it and the team seems to have a good vision. Great post though!

Thank you very much! I wish I would have looked into IOTA when it was 5 cents. I am a bit late but still think the price is still attractive to make some good profit in the long run. Good project indeed!

holding some of it : )

Hi, I'm a huge fan of IOTA. I also write things about IOTA on my steemit in Korean to let more Korean people realize how awesome it is! I expect more good news about IOTA from you :D Followed & upvoted !

Thank you! Yes I also expect IOTA taking of soon, the technology looks very promising.
