Crypto Convert

evolve blue.pngHelllllo Steemit! I am a complete newbie, and I have a ton of questions--I am hoping that I can get some thoughts about investing in crypto, and the future, and the possibilities:

SO, BACKGROUND: I am an artist. I have a small business, I work from my home. My husband is a welder, he has a great job, we bought a house, we have lovely dogs, a tiny garden--life is good!!!

The only downside has been our finances. We make okay money, but in terms of the future, of all the safety nets like 401k, retirement, health insurance. All of it has been out of reach for us. I think it's probably been out of reach for a lot of people for a long time.
I first heard about bitcoin like 7 or 8 years ago when bitcoin was $3!! My husband said it was a scam (Trust me he has apologized for this moment numerous times!!!) about 6 months ago I saw an app on my phone called coinbase--I was actually looking for something else.
I decided--you know what? I'm going to grab me some, even just a little piece.

In a serendipitous lack of attention--I bought Ethereum instead of Bitcoin. Not a ton, but a modest little chunk, that started to grow. Basically anyone who bought Ethereum knows the rest!!! I'm completely in--I research and learn as much as I can about this stuff. But I have questions!!

They are as follows:

  1. RIPPLE: I have a bit of this, but it feels sleazy, because it seems to be a way for the banks to get in and destroy what's happening. Is this a decent assumption? Is supporting it supporting the future demise of crypto?

  2. HEALTH INSURANCE: Is there a coin, or a plan, or something that could be used for health insurance? I read a great article about flood insurance, but it seems like health insurance on the blockchain could be a pretty amazing thing.

  3. POVERTY: This whole thing seems like a way for the little guy to get out of poverty- to spread the wealth that the big fat MAN has kept up at the top. I'm not clueless about the risks involved here--it truly is the Wild West- but I wonder how this can be accessed by really poor people, people not tech savvy, people who need to find a way to grow what they have.

  4. What is difference between buying a coin with bitcoin, or buying with, say doge? Is there a huge difference? How do I make that work to my favor?

Thanks all--I love this community-- thanks in advance for your thoughts--

Also!! I have some t-shirt designs up on RED BUBBLE--I've only gone as far as Ethereum, but I'll be designing for each of my favorite coins!!! So check it out (They don't take cryptocurrency--:( )

Seems based on what I know about Ripple is that the tech can be used irrespective of the actual tokens, therefore not really providing upward pressure on the price. Also it seems caked in lots of founder drama, so I'm going to keep my distance:

Also - Would love to read a tweet from @theRealDonaldTrump announcing a new Health Care ICO haha... who would be buying?

Not sure, but it would be written so 75% of the coin ended up in his pockets. Eye. Roll.
