Sia is a cloud storage platform that accepts payments in Siacoin. The project was devised in 2013 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with the idea of allowing anyone to rent out their unused storage space and reward them for their computers work.
The project’s source code has no dependencies on any of the Sia servers which is a very positive decision, as the team wanted to launch a fully decentralized peer-to-peer blockchain from the start.
This has gotten the team a lot of praise, as it is the only correct approach to embracing decentralization the way it was envisioned.

You can download the Sia software HERE.
If you want to contribute your personal hard-drive space to other users, you can become a hoster, select the storage folder you want the files to get sent to and click the announce button to show your area is available for file hosting.
The files will be encrypted so you won’t be able to access the data hosted on your system.
At the moment Siacoin is worth $0.008679
There are a couple of faucets available so if you set up your wallet you can get some free Siacoins from there.

I've been in sia for a while, it shows lots of promise.

Definitively a coin to keep an eye on.

Available storage: 1140 TB
Used: 2.15% or ~24 TB
Marketcap: $236 million (or ~$10 million per TB, even after the recent drop)
Conclusion: currently, it's the most expensive storage in history, comparable (in MB per USD) only to first HDDs introduced in 1950s and 1960s

I'm not suggesting it, just thought someone might be interested.

I know. Your posts are objective, no complaints there - it's up to investors to do the full research. I am interested in Sia too, for a long time now (since late 2015). Still, I can't figure out why is the actual usage so low. Time will show.

cool! I had to buy a bit of sia.

I believe in SIA, i think this is a looong term investment though.

They recently announced that they not looking to boost the value of thier coin, but rather the building of SIA.

I believe this is the right approach and is why i am keeping a piece of the pie and forgetting about it for the long term.

However, check out StorJ. They could definitely disrupt SIA and is much more user friendly.

SIA is still my No1 decentralised stoarge system.

but i want to get some cloud wallet for the same.. it would me really helpful if you can suggest one
