Being less than 24 hours new to the Steem community, it was brought to my attention that I should go buy some bitcoins. Alrighty, but how do I do that? (I'm a total noob)
After watching a couple Youtube videos about Bitcoin, I asked Uncle Google where I can buy bitcoins in my city. Who would have guessed there's a Bitcoin machine less than 10 minutes from my house? Crazy, right?
It's not like there's a giant sign outside of the store that says, "Buy Bitcoins Here!" Anyways, I've driven by this place many times without even looking at it. The machine takes $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 bills.
So weird that this place rents physical movies, but yet has access to cryptocurrency. It's a conflicted corner market.
It's not like there's a big sign on the outside that says "We Sell Bitcoins!" Anyways, I didn't have any cash with me at the time (who uses paper money anymore?), so I'll have to drive to my bank in the morning and pick up some cash.
If everything goes according to plan, I should have a video to share tomorrow morning about how I successfully purchased bitcoins anonymously. So crazy that there's a Bitcoin machine so close to me!
I'm totally excited... I feel like a kid the night before Xmas....lol
nice discovery!
Thanks!
Yeah, just can't get over that it was hiding away in a little convenience shop like this. :)
lucky you way to leave it open ended though now I must follow you I want to see your bitcoin buying experience. You may need to have a wallet set up not sure how machine works. If you can do it without personal information out there try and do a video. Upvoted and following now!!
Yes, absolutely I'll make a video for everyone.
The instructions just say:
Sounds simple enough. I'll make a good quality video for everyone!
I went to the vendor's website, and they say the process is completely anonymous. We'll see soon enough :)
i wonder if i could just print my QR code for that. I may google and see if theres one near me i want to bypass the banks as much as I can.
Just checked none in NY state figures we have some new weird law that charges companies a lot to deal with New Yorkers in cryptocurrencies
That's a good question. I'll bet these machines can scan a QR code on paper if it's roughly the same size as a phone app.
Here's the FAQ of the machine vendor:

I just came back from the Bitcoin ATM, and it had a note on it that said 'awaiting service.'
I live right across from Detroit, so maybe I can hop the border sometime this week and give it a try. I was only going to get $20 worth anyway, because the buy fee is at least 10% on any purchase, which is like paying a large tax.
I've signed up with https://www.quadrigacx.com, and I'm just awaiting verification. I plan on buying a few hundred dollars worth of BTC from there, and their charge is only 1%. I don't know about other people here, but I'm a big fan of saving money. I should be approved for buying within the next 24hrs, so I'll make a post about my buying experience there.
yea i was gonna say 10% yikes
Good luck and welcome.
Thanks so much!
Just make sure you don't do what these idiots I saw do on the internet back when Bitcoin first became really public and not pay the transaction fee. They made such a series of dumb technical mistakes and assumptions about the currency and then decided to blame Bitcoin for it.
Always pay the transaction fee when you're transferring Bitcoins! Otherwise you won't get it for several years! Make sure to double check that the address you're sending it to matches what is in your wallet too.
I'll make sure to pay attention to that. Good advice.
Thx.
awesome nice post indeed.
