KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR CRYPTO'S PROFIT/LOSS - free to use portfolio!

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago
Hello Steemians, In this post I gonna show you how to keep an eye on the coins you bought and how they are performing in terms of profit/loss in a smooth and easy way! Of course you can make an Excel sheet yourself and add some API’s, and that will do the job aswell! But if you’re not in to that, this post will show you how to use an existing and easy to use platform!

The portfolio I gonna show you is a part of the website www.cryptocompare.com , a website with a lot of trackers for many coins and they use different sources for the real time prices! Besides that, they have also an interactive platform where you can discuss trends, crypto news, reviews for wallets, different guides, … If you didn’t know the website, it is worth your time!

Step 1: register your account

  • Go to the website https://www.cryptocompare.com/portfolio/ and register your account
  • Fill in your email address and choose a password
  • Go to your e-mail inbox and click on the link to confirm your email address

Step 2: create your crypto portfolio

  • Choose the name of the portfolio
  • Add a description if you want
  • Make sure to choose ‘Private Portfolio’ if you don’t want others to see it!
  • You can choose a currency, I choose for USD (you can change it once you get in the portfolio)

Step 3: add your first coin

  • Click on “add your first coin”
  • Then you have to fill in the coin, the amount, the value, date

As soon as you start to type in the field “Pick a coin” the coins will become visible and you just have to click on the coin you want, see my example for steem below:

  • Amount: fill in the amount, how many of them you bought
  • Buy price: Fill in the price for 1 coin (with standard setting price is on “per unit”)
  • Currency: choose currency, in this case I filled in the price in BTC (easy to copy from the exchange)
  • Bought on: select the date
  • And click on “add to portfolio”

(You can also choose to fill in the total price of all the coins, but then you have to select “total value” instead of “per unit”. / You can also choose to fill in the price in $, but then you have to choose currency: USD)

Congrats! Your first coin is now visible in your portfolio!

As you can see it always adds the coin at 00:00 hour, at the beginning of the day (so unfortunately you can’t set an specific hour). The value is always in real time! You can see how much profit/loss the specific coin you bought has at the moment You have an overview of the total value of your portfolio, even with a chart!
  • You can add more portfolio's if you want!

EXTRA: Sell option

For now it still is free to use the “sell” option so you can watch your realized profit/loss, to do that just click the edit symbol of the coin, and click on “sell”, set the amount, the selling price, and click “sell” !

You should check out Cointracking App. It is very good to track your cryptocurrency profits and losses.

Thank you greatly.
Especially the having more then one portfolio feature. Was thinking I would have to open a separate account for my son. But this could track it perfectly.

Yes, I really like it! For sure the 24 hours chart is so beautiful to watch! I hope you enjoy it! Good luck!

I use Blockfolio too it's very user friendly. It's great being able to refresh the app and see the value of your holdings go up, especially on a day like today😜
Down days suck though. Swings and roundabouts I guess.

But, Blockfolio doesn't show the total gains/losses...

I use a great android app called blockfolio but this looks cool too

Thanks for the tip! I gonna check blockfolio soon!

Only down point for this one is that it doesn't let you set price alerts.

True! I use litebit for price alerts :-)
