Radix - finally going live (well, sorta) - Originally posted October 7, 2020

Radix is a "new" token going live* tomorrow (Oct. 8, 2020 at 18:00 UTC).

New? Not really, it's been around, kinda/sorta for several years. It started out as "emunie".
Going live*? Kinda/sorta, it's selling an ERC-20 token. So, although it's finally getting around to selling tokens, the Radix mainnet is still waiting.

I wrote this a year and a half ago: https://peakd.com/@crrdlx/radix-coin-s-identity-crisis about Radix struggling to find itself. The crux of my blog post was that Radix seemed to have a case of multiple personalities, kind of chameleon-like. Looking back, I still think I was spot-on. I got a response, which I really appreciated and respect, about how they knew exactly who they were and what the goals were. Radix set out to be money (medium of exchange), as well as a stable-coin with a fluctuating monetary supply, as well as a platform for smart contracts. This was all with a revolutionary new technology called Tempo. A few new whitepapers were written.

Somewhere along the line, Radix decided to go the Defi route. Tempo got tossed out, and a new consensus protocol brought in with a new name, Cerberus.

Radix mantra has been that they're onto something, but they don't want to release anything half-done that needs to be corrected later on-the-fly.

My hunch is that they wish to on the DeFi train, but realize that they're getting into the game a little later than others. Thus…better sell sell ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum. That way they can still work on things to get it right before releasing a product that may need to get fixed on-the-fly.

Anyway, the sale goes on tomorrow. It will interesting to watch the project.
