10 Reasons Why I love NEM

  1. Developers that are actually interested in developing software and not out for short term gains by fueling the market with speculative blog posts.
  2. Lots of features directly integrated into the wallet such as secure messaging and file sharing.
  3. The NEM.io Foundation is a non-profit organization
  4. POI and Harvesting it’s environmentally friendly and inexpensive since it uses no extra electricity and it rewards users who make transactions over those who hold coins. https://nem.io/investors/harvesting-and-poi/
  5. Best white paper and technical documentation I have seen with lots of relevant use case examples.
  6. Catapult or private blockchains which can be customised for each industry https://nem.io/wp-content/themes/nem/files/catapultwhitepaper.pdf
  7. Apostille - A blockchain notarization and timestamping service with transferable, updatable, branded, and conjointly owned notarizations. https://nem.io/wp-content/themes/nem/files/ApostilleWhitePaper.pdf
  8. Name Spaces and Mosaics allowing you to name and transfer goods when they had the NEM pub they where using it for buying and selling drinks.
  9. Fast and low transaction fees.
  10. It is still only ranked number 9 on https://coinmarketcap.com/ and you can still get your hands on a nem for less than $1 and has more features than the top 8 coins combined :P

thanks for referring me here.. you pointed out some good stuffs about NEM.. but the price is already near the $1 range.. actually I'm looking to invest in coins/tokens which are currently under $0.20 and hold them for a year or two and sell them.. so I'm looking for cheaper coins with great whitepaper and people with great talents working on the development

I think it's better to think in terms of market cap, price per coin is almost irrelevant as with most coins you can buy and sell fractions, look at IOTA your not actually buying 1IOTA on an exchange you're buying 1Million Iota which is why it's listed as MIOTA.

Also IOTA is still a proof of concept at this stage.

Before investing in anything I look at features, use cases, if they have a novel idea with a good development team.

https://coincheckup.com/ will provide a good starting point for this.

Nice post ! I upvoted this post.

sweet thanks! have started following your page looks pretty intresting :)

Thank you.

Good article. I bought some more NEM earlier today. And going to add even more soon.

:) Thank you!

Thanks for this very helpful post, @safetony. I did some research on the software development connected with NEM late last summer and took a small position with the idea that I would just write off the expenditure as a loss, and then if it turned out to be not a loss I would be happy.

Your research has been much more thorough than mine and I am happy to see that you’re emerging with confirmation of the judgment that I made last summer. So now what I’m going to do is map the technicals on its chart and look for occasions when I think there is a significant dip to add to my position. So, thanks again.

P.S. I am up-voting you, though I expect I have exhausted my SP for now. Anyway, I will try! (These SBD payouts are rather silly in size compared to the effort that we put into creating these articles; but what I do is to treat them as a certain amount of interest earned on my SP, and it turns out that that interest rate is better than what I’m getting in my bank account! Of course, I have to pray that when I try to go back to fiat the sale price of my SP will be close to my buy price!)

I think steem is either going to die because of spam or develop a very good user driven system that get's rid of most of the spam which is what I'm betting on so will save my steem and will hopefully be rewarded from the increased valuation. If you can become a witness then you can make some real money here and eventually hopefully by sharing good knowledge and up voting what truly interests you and not spamming

Thanks! I think the witness route is feasible only if you are are true IT expert. Even then, you have "blog incessantly" and spend a lot of time growing a huge following, which is detrimental to doing high quality work in my business.

So I just sort of disregard the "payment" system here.

In my business, having 'deep dialogues' with a few people is far more helpful and interesting than having "5,000 followers". After all, there are lots of excellent professions where one professional has only a few clients (less than 100) at any given moment.

This is true I do feel like the spammers are winning a bit at the moment but as the system matures who knows it's still quite a nice way to earn a passive income as you might already have a lot of material which you can just release on here but it is very time consuming for very little reward.

Thank you @lestatisticien for these insightful words..

"Having deep dialogues with a few people is FAR more helpful and interesting than having '5,000' followers.."

Part of the reason this platform enticed me was the opportunity to go on explorative journeys to not only find one's own voice here but to find other voices of resonance which I believe will support the steemit ecosystem in the long run, for those in it for the long haul..

Thanks @sonofthesoil, and your insightful comment prompts me to follow you!

I deeply feel that we are on the right track. We can have a great and influential Steemit with a collection of several dozen/hundred small communities doing their own thing.

It is too easy to forget that with in our inevitable 24-hour day, we can meaningfully interact with just a few people! So the trick is to find a good life with this limited opportunity.

Cheers!
