I think the main issue at the moment is, people are paying to much attention to the price. Instead of actually marketing the technology jump the blockchain technologies offer, a lot of people outside the crypto sphere are beginning noticing bitcoin solely based it's price dynamics.

At the moment there is to much greed and too little works being done in actually implementing day to day solutions.

But to get back to your last words. Yes, some of the blockchain projects will stick around for ever ;)
