Plant the seeds towards Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency adoption with one simple question

in #cryptocurrency9 years ago (edited)

Planting seeds. It was part of Bill Hicks' message when he hilariously commented on our culture.

"I'm just trying to plant seeds. Maybe one day, they'll take root."

Bill Hicks

Now that quote is plucked from context, but planting seeds is what he did with every one of his rants in defense of common sense, whether he said so or not.

Awareness and adoption

Cryptocurrency awareness and adoption is the seed I want to plant in the minds of every day people. There are plenty of ravings out there about why using a decentralized community-driven currency has advantages to the old banking system so I won't get too far into it. But personally, I think that daily Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency such as Steem Dollar use can, at the very least, provide competition to banks. Banks that have monopolized finance a bit too far into the information age with their slow/outdated practices and often poor customer service.

"Do you take Bitcoin yet?"

That is the question. For every purchase I make, as best as I can remember, I have been asking "Do you take Bitcoin yet?" At big chain and individual stores or restaurants alike. To an owner, a manager, even to an employee who has no say in the matter. I hope it might make them ask themselves some questions: "Should I/we take Bitcoin?", "Why don't we?", "What's Bitcoin?", "Should I buy some?" They might inquire with their bosses. Seeds planted.

"yet"

Saying yet implies it's inevitable. It can also make the question funnier to someone who discounts Bitcoin. I'm fine with it if someone interprets it as a joke! A smile is worth it.

What do you think? Have you tried something similar? Do you think there's a related or better way? Please leave a comment!

That is brilliant... The easiest way to bring awareness... So simple and elegant... Just imagine if you had only half the the Pokemon Go people saying this... It would raise a lot of eyebrows in just a few hours... Sorry for the pokemon go reference... Just saw a video of people walking aimlessly through central park in NY...

my respect to you and deceased rockstar Bill Hicks

about the question: i think banksters can't control us anymore 8]

Do you even Bitcoin, bruh?

@pfunk I think Steemit has found the way. I think the masses will take to to Steemit, and cryptocurrency (along with King Bitcoin) will become ubiquitous.

We also need to start asking 'do you take steem dollars yet' ;) Thanks for the post pfunk

Great idea! Imagine Bill is still spreading the love in this universe with those planted seeds

You earn an upvote from me just for quoting Bill Hicks!

so, did you managed to buy some goods for btc in real life?

This is spot on. I am going to start doing this. Excellent analogy and top marks for Bill Hicks reference!!

Good one! I've also used that planting the seed in one of my stories a few days ago, but I really like your "yet". Awesome!

Loved Bill, wish he was alive to day; wonder what he would have made of crypto?

I imagined that too as I was writing this. Given his distrust in authority, especially condensed in what he felt about what happened in Waco, I think he'd be enthusiastic about it.

These bitcoin peddlers, I bet they sleep like babies don't they?

I am going to add "I accept bit coins" to my website.

Love it.

When the bank asks, how do you want your cash... I used to say Bitcoin, now I'll ask for Steemcoin. LOL LOVE the sour expressions I get. (Now. Before they had no clue.)

Thanks for the comment but I'd like you to know that I don't appreciate it being 66% links to posts of yours that are unrelated to this post.

There wasn't much content in your post to reply to. Good stuff though. Thanks :)

You found something to comment on and I appreciate it. But I don't like seeing comments that spam unrelated posts, especially not in my own post.

Does this work better for you? :)
