I think it is much harder now. A few years back it was possible but now it gotten much harder. At the beginning there was only bitcoin so the choice where to invest was easy, but today with a new crypto popping up every day, it is like gambling. I think the gold rush is over. It is a professional business now, like the stock market. To be successful in this market you have to work hard. There is no easy money anymore.
It is indeed like gambling, however still a lot of opportunity. Do I think its going to be the same? Absolutely not.
I'm honestly starting to believe that Bitcoin might not be the horse to back. Hear me out, Bitcoin is always going to be the scapegoat - The banks hate Cryptocurrency and so do the governments at this current stage. Bitcoin always bears the brunt of this criticism/hate. When was the last time you heard them trying to prove how bad Litecoin is or other currencies? That's not forgetting all the other issues with Bitcoin such as the transfer speeds etc. I think Bitcoin is going to be kinda like a test currency eventually, one that others look to and improve upon which is already happening now to be honest.
Whilst I will continue to invest in Bitcoin at the moment I'm also paying huge attention to the new coins coming out all the time, ones that have fixed the issues that have plagued bitcoin of late. Think of it like Apple/Steve Jobs - they didn't really invent anything but they certainly took on and improved upon many existing technologies and made them a global success - Starting with the mouse right up to the iPad and Apple Watch.
Just my two cents.

Of course diversification is key in instances like these its wise to not put all of your eggs in one basket. I also own a few other coins after doing a bit of research. So much potential not in bitcoin but in the market in general.
Based on the possibility of hyperinflation in the next 10 years, it might be very difficult not to become a millionaire. Just saying....

That is the sad truth for some people in some countries, they became millionaires, but in the wrong way... I wonder what one should "HODL" to survive a possible financial/general apocalypse, a small self-sustainable homestead maybe, with a nice zombie-proof fence?
I don't usually listen to clif high, but during his interview with Omar Bham he likened the post WWI German hyperinflation to what may occur in the US because of the govt's policy of nearly free money. He also likened the roaring twenties (a time of high debt accumulation coupled with fast economic growth) to what America has been experiencing since the subprime mortgage crisis. Without a major debt bubble bursting, the only way to sustain the economy not facing a major correction is to keep feeding the machine more free money. Jim Rogers (co-creator of the quantum fund with George Soros) has been doing lots of interviews talking about the unsustainable debt loads that are driving the real estate and stock markets. The debt is worse than it was back in '08-'09.
Without a major correction in the next 10 years, our currency's inflation will have to keep up with the economy's general debt and rise in cost of living, which makes the idea of being a millionaire in the next 10 years conceivable - minus the financially wealthy/secure aspect it may be likened to now

by 2020 bitcoin will go through its 3rd halving, and by 2024 its 4th halving. I say if you put as much money as you can into bitcoin and some other cryptos, every 2 weeks, for 4-6 years, you will be very VERY happy you did so

Yeah back then I was doing the same thing also, playing with Transformers and the Playstation 2. It's amazing how cryptocurrency can change one's life in a second. You just gotta hodl and wait for the right moment @paolajane.

I think he made that decision because he was 12, his young naive mind was actually an advantage in that specific case. Hmm. Well, I don't know if I agree with him. I haven't seen the interview or know the context of the comment. He's a smart kid, and I take my hat off to him for even understanding the concept of investing at age 12.
However, his comment betrays one thing; his lack of awareness of the world he lives in. For one, more than 99.9999% of the world do not have $1,000 full stop. Let alone, a spare $1,000 to give a kid to invest with. He is ignoring the silver spoon he was born with (from a global point of view).
Second, he is smarter than ME for sure :) . I knew about BitCoin it it's very early days. I even mined one :) - but I needed the hard drive space for photos or something and deleted everything on the disk.

You're right in so many ways! However there are people who rise from the toughest of situations and anything is possible if you make it. Not to be unaware of my surroundings but hey.. my entire crypto folio is from my earnings from steemit, I haven't invested a dollar of my own money.

Crypto currency is the next big thing. I wasted my time trading forex last year. Lost alot of money and it affected me. I own a whole lots of people right now but having joined crypto currency fully this year I have a strong hope that I will rise again. I will smile again. Steemit is another source of encouragement. I have a whole lots of whales here encouraging me never to give up. Yes, I will not give up
I wouldnt say forex is a waste of time, value what you learned in that period of time. I also learned how to trade forex, im not gunna say I was successful though haha. Keep going at whatever you're doing and you will be successful, nothing good comes easy, you should be smiling throughout the entire process.
I agree with you Jane it will be your own fault if you do not become a millionaire with crypto. But it can be tricky its all about doing your research and diligence. I feel bad for the people who got screwed in bitconnect but let that be a lesson to all of us. ONLY invest what you can afford to loose. Don't go a sell your retirement account or put a 2nd mortgage on your home.
I know for me I'm just using extra money I receive from selling items on craigslist or snow blowing neighbors driveways. Good content, I'm going to start following you! Feel free to do the same :)
You hut the nail on the head when it comes to doing your own research, great example with Bitconnect. The only money I have invested into cryptos have been from my steemit earning believe it or not. In 50 days I have created a very beautiful cryptofolio :)

Pretty cool story, didn't know about this one. I did also hear stories about people paying for coffee with Bitcoin years ago and now being sad they didn't HODL. Also 50 cent's story on how he made an extra 5+ mln through Bitcoin he forgot about.
