We are in the Age of Cryptocurrency and this age is bringing us a lot of things which we never knew was possible
In recent years they have been a lot of increase of the number of people trading cryptocurrencies, everyone wants to get a piece of the Blockchain Pie.
The number of people trading cryptocurrency is rising faster than the price of bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market is one that will bring you huge profits if you have a good knowledge of trading.
But is that what cryptocurrency should all be about, trading for profit.
I believe that we have not scratched the surface of what the blockchain has to offer.
One of the greatest strenghts of the blockchain is decentralization, which in the layman's transalation means everyone has a chance. There is no central authority this is the Major reasons why government of countries and Banks and other sectors set to be disrupted hates anything the blockchain has to offer
It was built to be control proof and put power in the hands of everyone.
So when it comes to this new digital money, our priority should be how to use it to profer solutions to the problems being faced in the society.
I believe the real value of cryptocurrency is not gotten by trading for profit but the real value comes from using it to provide a good or service that will benefit the society at large.
We have all seen Billionaires like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet give huge sums of money away to charity.
Having money without a purpose makes you feel empty.
There are some current developments in the crypto world that is toeing the line of bringing value back to everyone who are actively involved in a particular community.
A recent example is authorship.
Authorship goal is to make the internet more free and accesible to authors and readers.
It is backed by ATS which is an ethereum token, the developers aim is to create a platform for Authors Publishers and translators.
Now they have been a lot of complains over the years about the unjust polices of publishers, and the criteria for publishing a work has slid towards money making.
Authorship aims at giving authors a voice and making sure that they get real value for their work, now that sounds like a platform with real purpose and value.
But Authorship does not only focus on writers, the platform enables publishers from all over the world have an equal chance at publishing a work
Over the years the publishing industry have been plagued with problems ranging from increased cost of publishing to decreasing shelf space and the smaller publishing firms find it difficult to compete with the big guys in the industries.
Authorship is giving every publisher around the world a fair chance at competing with other publishing houses.
Translators are not also left out as they too have an opportunity to translate books of their choice and let they earn something anytime it sells.
This is a great example of what e-bay did, they democratized commerce and gave everyone who had something to sell an equal chance on the platform
And Authorship is bringing this amazing curve in the cryptocurrency innovation to solve all the problems the content publishing industry face.
Creating another coin or token that solves no real problem would not be beneficial to the community at large, developers who want to create a new cryptocurrency should find ways by which it can be used to solve the problems being faced by people in the society.

I'm interested to see what will happen with Authorship. Crypto is going to solve MANY real world problems, this is only the beginning!

Yes.. This below is really the crux of it.
I am not usually happy when people's knowledge of c ryptocurrency is just the ability to trade it or just about bitcoin. The blockchain tech is a lot and can really be put to good real life use. Thank's to a platform like steemit that is currently giving me a basis to explain to people the use cases of crypto beyond buying and holding bitcoin... The authorship ICO is a good one to me too; putting the blockchain to use.
Hello @dorth
Thanks for your insightful comments and just like you it pains me when people are only concerned about trading.

Hi @ogochukwu
Thanks for this thoughtful article.
I wonder if publishing companies themselves are becoming obsolete?
Authorship could be a great innovation if it goes about this the proper way.
The problem in the past was that distribution was largely handled by only a few companies. Publishing companies were the only way for an author to get their material in front of readers but now, with the advent of self-publishing platforms such as Amazon, there are more and more independent authors.
Now, I think Authorship could benefit greatly from using the blockchain to offer a creative distribution platform...
Especially since many people read books online now.
Keep up

Very nice input @ogochukwu. Many thanks for sharing :)
Greeting @ogochukwu from a fellow MAW member. Your look at the potential of cryptocurrency reminds me very much about my first experience with "the internet" back in 1991. There was pretty much only email. It took 4 years before there was any way to really browse and not much content to see. It was 3 more years before ebay really got e-commerce rolling, and it was very scammy at the time. Every transaction was a gamble.
So when I look at the progress bitcoin and cryptos have made so far, I am kind of amazed. Imagine where we will be in 10 or 20 years. I think Authorship is one of the ideas that will really take off and change how we produce and consume content.
