Note that their TOS says:

No Representations & Warranties by Tether: Tether makes no representations, warranties, or guarantees to you of any kind.

I am not a lawyer, but this tells me that Tether (the company) does not actually guarantee anything, including giving you dollars/euros for Tether tokens.
