Should you be worried right now?

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago

Some of my thoughts regarding the current Market situation. I keep on seeing more and more posts of people panicking, so I figured I would put some ideas into a video.

Much love

I played this on my curation stream. Awesome video! Thanks @meno for all you do for this blockchain.

You are my Steem Hero.

As the saying goes, what doesn’t kill us makesbus stronger and I think that will apply when the general market reverses or Steem finally goes mainstream as more adoption come due to the strong communities being built in the ecosystem.

I found that people at Steemfest were not talking about the Steem price. That will come in time if we build the communities and apps that will attract the masses.

What you are saying here is exactly what I am thinking all the time about my journey on steem I never really cared about the price. SP is what counts for me. All the effort (and little money) I canalized in my and other steem accounts will never be forgiven.

I am on that blockchain and also on that planet for just a few reasons:

  • gaining experience
  • find my passion and purpose
  • share my knowledge and
  • inspire others.

I am not even thinking a minute about the price or market state (and I have no clue of that) when creating content or working on projects / communities.

Thanks for this message to all the doubting steemians out there!

Hold the line!
The major difference I see with Steem is the great minds and community behind it. So much value is being built with the people who are creating and contributing to this community. The prices will come and go, up and down, but over time, staying true to the core of what makes this token unique is it's ability to build value through proof of brain....and as you say...there are some great minds at work here on the blockchain.

It's pretty obvious for us because we saw it with our own eyes... how we translate that to the rest, to the ones who didn't go... that's the trick, right?

I don't know if I'm going crazy, but this dump actually made me happy. I know Steem isn't going anywhere with everything that's being built and has been built already. So seeing Steem at an insane discount made me smile. :) Too bad I don't have any FIAT to spend right at this moment. :P

Also, seeing people despair makes me more confident as well. It makes me think we might see the last of the bears soon.

Those who are worried are racing horses. Because of the blinders, they can see only a narrow range of the whole picture thus, they can't see through the FUD.

To sell Steem/SP right now would be a terrible decision imo. Anyone who made it will soon regret it.

I do not even think about the price, outside of the gain/loss on promoted posts when the market fluctuates. Tons of philosophy on the blockchain, I love the philosophy stuff. Oh, geez, are people really thinking about selling now? That is just bad investing. I agree, we will be fine! I saw you in a mine shaft video, I'm forgetting who posted it. Looked like you guys walked down 70 flights of stairs. Glad to see a video man!

It’s all good, I have faith it’ll bounce again soon. Buy up those cheap coins I say

Thanks a lot for your thoughts. It makes me, a newbie, keep my positive thinking f Steem and especially of Steemit .

I'm with ya, @meno! Your enthusiasm is a big encouragement. Thanks for that.

HODL, it will be back up eventually

Great perspective man. Such a true statement....I mean we have SMART people on here. No reason to panic or sell anything. With brains comes continued innovation. Cheers.

that's right... this designed could only be improved with a little kitten!! hahaha

great points man. i think you hit it on the head when you compared it to the dot com boom.

the cream rose to the top.

and that will be the same i feel with crypto. the projects that have real world value and use will rise. and the speculation will fall.

hodl tight!!! lol

so which one are we ... meaning Steem

i feel steem is the cream. real people. real community. and a crypto we actually use everyday.

Excellent video @meno and thanks for the mention.

You express much of what I think, but with greater clarity (if ever you need more stress in yer life you'd make a great teacher).

To add to the optimism - think of this - what's been achieved in just a couple of years through one chain... it's phenomenal!

And yr so right... we've got the people and the talent on our side, so it's very likely we'll be a 'survivor blockchain'!

I'm doing a credit card cash transfer tomo (I've got an 18 month 0% interest offer) to buy more steem, not sure when I'll buy in exactly, but stuff selling!

The question we should actually be asking ourselves is 'where should I set my buy in point?!?

I bought 500 tokens yesterday... 60 cents proved too tempting... ;)

I got 180...and that's while having a $1200 month income deficit.

Lots of Steemians say Steem is undervalued at these prices, but is that really true? How exactly do we value the Steemit platform and its token other than on exchanges. If everyone is convinced Steem is so undervalued, where is the buy pressure on exchanges?

Look at the demand and daily volume on tokens like BAT, and compare that to Steem. Huge difference in sentiment!

I guess it depends on what you define as valuable... to me value comes from the amount of people using a token and not so much the speculative market of said token.

There are 39+ coins that higher valuation than steem, but out of those coins... How many of them actually get used? how many of them actually have a community, have transactions?

If we define valuation to be correlated to network effect, which in an healthy economy it is (money that is not used is valueless) then it's not such a crazy assertion to make.

In other words, the reason why I believe STEEM is undervalued is not specifically because of it's tech, but because of the people who are using it daily. This of course when I compare it to other tokens that don't serve any function at all, the ER20's, all the different bitcoins, etc.

I do however grasp your point... because it seems like many people when they say this come from a place of hope and not so much from deep analysis. Meaning, how did they reach their conclusion is yet to be determined.

I'm looking at it from a macro economic aspect... and in my limited knowledge, yes... we are undervalued.

The one impressive thing about Steemit during the bear market is that the flow content has not ceased, not to mention all the new and interesting dApps. And there seems to be new faces on the introduceyourself tags every single day. Most other coins don't seem to have that kind of growth.
