[dtube] HUGE YouTubers Joining Steemit/DTube - Bullish for Steem?

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

Over the past few weeks, a number of very popular YouTubers including the Hodge Twins & Anthony Fantano a.k.a The Needle Drop have joined Steemit and/or DTube.

This is a significant moment in the history of decentralised social media platforms. In this video I'll be discussing that and the potential impact this might have on the value of the Steem cryptocurrency too.

thanks for sharing! definitely good news!

Man dTube really needs an embed player

steemit is the way forward

the hodge twins posted at the same time as you! good times ahead for this platform!!!! please keep it coming ya'll!!!!

Furious Pete with 5 milllion subs is here as well...

@louisthomas please upload your bullish videos on steem to youtube, because the target audience is there.

this pete made one post and has not put that same post on youtube
he did get 1500 in upvotes so that might convince him, lol

SMT's are launching all throughout 2018. If any of those gain traction we'll see Steem ETH like gains from last year. I think the Steem blockchain is going exponential from the data I am seeing. Thanks for sharing.

Dtube use going exponential. $50 Steem coming?

Possibly!!!!
2018 is a Steeming year

Dtube the Bull Run Steem Roller.... dear youtube send us all your content creators we will take care of them. $100 STEEM is coming.

YEah and think about when all the big Tubers start to make there own SMT to reward there viewers :) Fly like an eagle in to the Future

Looks like Steemit could be on the verge of a major expansion, would be great for everyone involved... how about a house plant or two...a bit of greenery maybe...just a thought :)

I am happy to find the @hodgetwins Thank you I will go upvote there stuff and follow them.

For me, more important than any sort of short term increase in value of Steem is the exposure to the concept of decentralization for new folks. The possibility that these new/high profile Youtubers can bring in people who are not familiar with blockchain technologies and expose to them by way of Steemit to what real decentralization looks like. The ability to create public content for many eyes, own the rights and 100% of the profit potential without having to worry about being censored or deleted. Steemit is a fantastic introduction to a decentralized world for people who only think of cryptos in terms of Bitcoin. This is great progress :)

Nice to Steem you @danielshortell! Totally agree with you :-) The only aspect I doubt about will be how Steemit will handle the first "ideological" conflicts which inevitably will burst among the community.

Till now the Steemians share more profile features (crypto-oriented, distrustful of external authorities,...) than the ones that could confront us. But when even political parties, churches, etc., along with their usual sophistic techniques and private agendas, will open their accounts here, it'll be a real challenge to preserve our network from "community-driven censorship", for example.

Or we insert in the Steemit blockchain a prohibition for certain categories of entities to take part?

@ijatz Those groups could also make there own busy.org like browser and only show the content they want and share in the rewards pool by building a Dapp for there community. The blockchain is like a city and many people can live in a city with out visiting each others house if they wish not to. And with the blockchain even if someone tries to hide stuff someone else can look at the naked blockchain with a viewer to see everything. Interesting to think about.

Hello @allowisticartist, many thanks for your comment! I'll have to take a in-depth look a the Dapp option you mention, cause I'm lacking information on it. It perhaps could constitue a way to build the "SteemCyclopedia" I'm trying to trigger a debate about (if you can cast a glance at the proposal, here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@ijatz/steemcyclopedia-a-steemit-based-wikipedia, and leave any hint around the most efficient "how" to launch such a project, I'd be highly grateful for it :-)).

And I share your vision about the blockchain as a city, a large and diverse enough city to give shelter and its "vital space" to all communities. BUT it's quite probable that in this Steemit city, some actors, due to their "mind colonizing" inherent trends and incapacity to limit their greed to their native community, began behaving more like gangs, gradually crunching others territories and vital spaces, than respecting nice neighbouring protocols ;-)

Then they can build on the EOS.io platform like the https://everipedia.org/ project with there IQ token they airdropped on the EOS token hodlers. I think the eos blockchain may be a better suited for this project than the STEEM blockchain. Just by the nature of the way the tokens lock up the storage space on EOS and such. Techincally one could build it on STEEM and yet it is life right now and will have a much wider audience on eos.io

I am not sure how to deal with the gang issue you refer to on the concept of the blockchain as a city. I think steem is just the first in a long long line of platforms that will allow communities to grow and prosper on there own different chains. I just see it hard to beat eos so I think the witness will end up running steem on the eos platform. Thanks for the reply and I hope the link provided can help you in your idea of a pedia on STEEM at least to see how someone else is approaching the solution, oh the co-founder of Wikipedia is on the Everipedia.org project.

Yep, yep, yep, I hear you loud and clear. I am relatively new here and just last night I was learning more about the flagging system and this is the exact same thought I had. Community censorship as you refer to it will certainly need a very nuanced and elegant algorithm to kill the clear cut bullshit, but leave the regular ol bullshit (ie: that other asshole's opinion...hhahhha)

Generally speaking, I'm just not comfortable with the idea of prohibition of ideas as I'd like to think (in a perfect world of course) that the most meritorious ideas will float like cream (I realize this is a very naive stance). We'll see, but the point you are making is critical.

Upvote if you love DTube!!! Dislike for bad luck

I used to watch The HodgeTwins a lot back in the day, definitely very exciting times ahead for Steemit.

Did you hear Furious Pete has recently joined too? He's a hugeeee YouTuber too.

Exiting news. Keep spreading the word. 👍🏻

So true @louisthomas. For the past few weeks i have actually seen lots of youtubers move down to Dtube. I think its great for the community especially when they bring their followers down to Dtube.

Thank you for that great work...and thank you for sharing.....i love the youtube channel....very intresting video.....bravo once more

nice post,thanks for shearing.

Thanks for this valuable post sharing.... i like this dtube channel. best of luck

Day by day cryptocurrencies is growing up to highrst level and increasing popularity. at present time steemit is growing up fastly. I think steemit will cross to all cryptocurrencies soon.

ya thats vary looking great for steemit. it is just a matter of time before the rest of the youtube families joins.

Hey dude, nice to see you on the Steemit DTube platform.

yep pete was a great addition, hes still a noob right now. But once he gets the bug this could be great!

Nice to Steem you @louisthomas, and thanks for covering this topic! (I'm gonna follow you, from now on). What I'm wondering is if we should really be pushing for "very popular" personalities to join our community (and the DTube one),... or if we'd better go on attracting "highly qualified" people?

For instance: I know I'd be more enthusiastic by hearing that a maverick historian, talented in recording and telling important past events and processes, is beginning to post her or his videos on DTube, improving global DTube quality, than learning a 100 million fans youtuber is adding his footage on DTube, if he's only surfing on some hype content we'll all have forgotten 10 years from now...

I guess the same comparison applies to the different blockchains and the pace of their building process.

This is why YouTube might die. They're hellbent on defunding people and censoring instead of making it about the content creator. It's not really "YOUTube" anymore, is it? I'm glad to hear people being under appreciated on YouTube are coming over here. This is the way that it should be!

YOUTubeWeTake is what it is now.... Tubers will just switch to the D

I look forward to YouTube’s decline because I know they’re taking advantage of people. 👍🏻

@louisthomas HUGE is indeed the word for the day! This is so awesome to see unfold. With the new entry level to get any pay on youtube makes my 11 year old account out of the game. I only ever made 1cent on youtube and hardly ever got any feedback from anyone that viewed. Then I stared to Vlog on Dtube just the other day and I am blown away with what a difference. We have to thank youtube for there shift that is making these HUGE tubers switch tubes. The coolest thing is that these big Tubers can grow and now really support there audience on the other platform no rewards for viewers. THis is the biggest thing that Dtube has over the Youtube. It is so cool that we have this place to grow together. Thanks for putting together this video I am going to go subscribe to the channels you mentioned.
@unityeagle check it out love

Ah found it :) many people taling about dtube forget to include the URL for new users...

I've still yet to see any of the YouTubers that I follow, join Steemit/DTube. The first time I ever watched the Hodge Twins was on DTube as well as all the others you mentioned.

glad you came across the steemit!

Guess it is time for!
