[dtube] Would a Bitcoin ETF Cause the Price to Explode?

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

With recent news that the CBOE has been "nudging" the SEC to approve a Bitcoin-based ETF, I thought it would be worth exploring what kind of impact this could have on the price.

Let me know your thoughts down below!

thanks for sharing Louis! I believe btc ETF is a positive sign for the market!

long term will be positive :)

In my opinion, bitcoin is similar to gold, in the sense that it is not a productive asset and that a bitcoin will be worth 1 bitcoin in 5 or 10 years (unless there is some problem with the technology). ). It will not produce anything and its value will still be determined by supply and demand. Maybe it will be worth a lot more, maybe not.

Not so. Bitcoin, if it becomes a widely used currency with a store of value will be deflationary for anyone who uses it in parity with goods and services. Unlike Fiat, there is no INFLATIONARY weapon in the arsenal. There can only ever be 21 million whole bitcoins and in reality there will only ever be about half hat in circulation.
ALSO Do not over look the idea of an occasional FORK as in Bitcoin Cash or Gold which, contrary to all rhetoric has been the equivalent of a stock split without the split.

I really doubt it will have any significant effect on the price, the BTC system will still continue to be accustomed to the stock format, however in any possibility that it will also have an effect on the price cannot be totally undermined, you see, heavy game changers such as the SEC to do these kind of power moves

Honestly, I’m rooting for bitcoin ETF. I think it could give anyone huge opportunity getting into crypto. Imagine you can buy 1000 contracts for a fraction. With this volatility it would be great opportunity.

I hope BitcoinETF impact can make the price to explode is the leading cryptocurrency at the moment, so it's behavior in the market will affect other cryptos. I like this interesting review @louisthomas.

A bitcoin ETF would track the bitcoin benchmark index and replicate its daily performance, allowing people with a brokerage account to invest in the cryptocurrency without having to worry about the challenges of buying, storing, and safekeeping it.
In order to be launched as a financial instrument, the bitcoin ETF needs to be approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) first.
Considering that the Winklevoss Twins’ bitcoin ETF product has been waiting for approval since 2013 and SEC keeps casting off bitcoin ETF proposals one by one, there is no definitive go-ahead currently in sight.

Bitcoin price will explode no doubt. Btw nice post man :)

Right now the price is exploding down, Bear market. I have see many fundamental analysis talking about how it could explode UP.

I desire to leave this bear trend before June and hopefully see the BTC going to his ATH.

Never forget that the current crypto market cap is only 3.5% of the dotcom bubble ;)

Hoping for the best and praying like crazy for a price rice. Maybe we could get a boost now but I know rising is not a matter of if but when

A bitcoin ETF would be fantastic for the price of crypto, but we are still a ways away from it happening. I would love to see it but it doesn't appear that we're any closer to it happening than we were before this letter. I mean SEC keeps rejecting as far as I just st found out. Time will tell.

Bitquin wird steigen, weil die chinesischen Länder die Betquin unterstützen
Es ist ein kniffliger Job, um es zu Fall zu bringen

unlike the FAUX Futures market with Bitcoin where NO actual bitcoin is involved and so does not effect the market in a supply and demand way , and ETF will actually hold bitcoin or litecoin in a custodial fund in quantities which could in fact reduce the supply in general and so increase the value. In the ETF the Crypto would not be TRADED back and forth by a day trader but would be held by a trust of some kind. If they do it like the make believe Futures it will do nothing,.

https://www.investors.com/etfs-and-funds/etfs/everyone-calls-bitcoin-investment-trust-an-etf-but-its-not-heres-what-it-is/ Look at this option , these folks have well over 150k bitcoin in their fund. Similar to an ETF but not exactly the same.

Also see my replay to Bitcoin, if it becomes a widely used currency with a store of value will be deflationary for anyone who uses it in parity with goods and services.

GBTC already exists. There is a premium in the price which makes it less attractive.
I am not sure what more an ETF would add unless it was a “basket” of crypto currencies.

Overall I think it would result in a price increase, however not an 'explosion' in price, a slower appreciation. With that being said, once the media starts running stories about 'Bitcoin ETFs' it could produce a spike.

I would say it has got the capability, far more than capability actually... Anyways we hope that it does explode because it will be wonderful for crypto market..

Leading gold fund management firm VanEck filed with the SEC last month to list and trade the “VanEck Vectors Bitcoin Strategy ETF.” The fund does not plan to invest in bitcoin directly but will invest up to 25% of its portfolio in U.S. exchange-traded bitcoin derivative instruments.

What do you think blockchain will be replaced by hashgraph?
