I try to do my due diligence in regards to ICOs. I was suspicious about Chainlink and as it turns out they are scamming investors.
If you wonder how I got the first picture from above all you have to do is change the date of your computer to tomorrow and refresh the page https://link.smartcontract.com which is the official page of the ico. They either got most of the funds from previous investors or they are trying to create a hype for their product by displaying false statistics once the ICO kicks of in about 23 minutes.
I would love to have an explanation from the team but as we all know the communication channels in most ICO's are limited to non-existent. As Vitalik said "We are in an ico Bubble" so we better have our eyes open at all times.
Not sure about a scam..Although i'm just sour cause i did not get my eth in time to buy some...
edit You're right that's dodgy AF
Open browser console and do a
var startTime = Date.parse("2017-09-10T15:00:00Z");
and then
checkFundingAmount()
And it pops up with
..
aaand its finished
Wow thanks for sharing!!!
Good info!!!!!
Steemit for life!!
woooo... the coding expert.
change the date and you will the first picture..showing that the cap is reached.
Bizarre...!
Thanks for keeping us informed
A nice find. would help a lot of people out there.
Pretty much 99% of ICOs are scams and you should just stay away from them. Stick with Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin stop spreading the money all over the place you make the entire crypto system more worthless investing in crap ICOs
Thanks for this warning
What made you change the date of your PC to look for this? Is it a common scam?
These bad ICOs are getting me down with cryptocurrencies. I'm just going to avoid them from now on. I've invested in Omisego and EOS, but no more after them.
I check everything. the devil hides in the details
lol
Wow thanks for this information, it is crazy how many scams seem to be showing up. I am completely thankful for people like all of you out there keeping the new and less informed, more informed. Thanks to many's due diligence there are many people saved form getting scammed..I hope to become more informed so as to start investing a little soon. I dont have much to start with so even a small scam could destroy me. Thank you for the info.
Thanks for the heads up. Need more information on ICO's before they release.
I stay away from ICO's. There's no guarantee for their legitimacy unless they're officially backed by prominent players.
thnx men
UPVOTED WITH CAPLOCK AND RESTEEMED
ye saw them for a week in adsense advertising in banners in some sites, there was like u had last 24 hours and its everyday lol.
Thanks for the post, they have my slack account deactivated and i did nothing wrong.
you are just mad because you didn't get in!
I actually chipped in with a friend in pre-sale
no doubt... you really swift would of partnered up with if it was a scam ?
That is really quite suspicious! Thanks for the heads-up...
wow fair play @kyriacos
it is crazy amount of scam ICOs there is,
if you've time you should have check out a recent one, AIOS that was heavily promoted on steemit and uncovered by @cryptick
ICO Scam ALL IN ONE SOCIAL (AIOS) launches NEW FRAUD WEBSITE
You don't provide any real reasons, there is nothing wrong with the javascript
there is this answer from a guy on reddit, but I dont know if it has value since I am not a software tech. person.
"Just means they used a server-side script.
A lot of Android games does this too so you cannot cheat the system."
Thanks for letting us know! Caution is the word for of the day!!
Thanks! You were actually the reason why I decided to stay away from this ICO last minute. I didn't know how to think about it anyways, as there was more suspicious behaviour over the last few weeks and a severe lag of communication.
E.g. the hardcap was changed AFTER the pre-sale which violates the pre sale TCs.
Thanks for the heads up!

Crypto space has so much potential for good but can be easily abused because of lack of regulation. I have lost money on a hack on Bittrex and it took them five days to give me a reply that was of no help. New technology comes with new challenges
Im into the Wabbitcoin ICO :)

This is the long listener. thankfully i never invested
I think the rule of thumb should be that if there's no real product you can use or see with your own eyes, then it's bullshit you should definitely not put money into.
I know way too many internet marketers and their mindset. They will definitely jump into this just to make a quick buck.

I wrote my thoughts on what is going with ChainLink. https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@internetotaku/chainlink-ico-was-it-a-scam-or-was-it-just-a-massive-mistake
Thank you
Thanks for this @kyriacos. I am a newbie, and to tell you the truth. I was confused about so much stuff.
I am among those who missed out on the crowdsale. I will probably not go as far as saying they are scamming the investors as my eth as well as gas has been returned to me. I would however say that the comms probably could be better, I don't mind missing out on the sale. But if I was told only 3 mil is available for the sale then I probably will let it pass anyway. Setting up a 7 ETH individual cap probably is misleading into people think they have time to get in, which is not the case at all. But they didn't increase the cap or taken in the additional money so looks like they still keep the word for that part unlike Enigma. I wished they could lower the limit to even 1 eth to allow more people to join, but unfortunately that's not the case, disappointed for sure, but have to move on now.
I'm getting sick of all these scams. Maybe we do need some regulations...
ICO scams will always move in lockstep with the marketplace, learning from the innovators and staying five minutes ahead of the average investor, to capitalize on the knowledge gap. To avoid these scams now and in the future, take your time. Question everything. Research and confirm independently. Seek secondary and tertiary proof sources. Never click on any supplied link.
Use your head, and always remain skeptical.
Good looking out!! Keep On Steemin On!!
What about that $495,- analysis report from Gartner that appears to be available? Did anyone actually check what it says ?) If this really is a scam, it would be interesting to know how Gartner & World Economics Forum got up there...
Thanks for the information, thumbs up.
This situation remind me the ChainCoin gold week: From 6,59 USD/each to actual 0,16 $ :)
Nice Post.. :)

Deal is a Deal.
@kyriacos hats off to you... you're a super-sleuth! I think Omar Bham @crypt0 should know about this... he was excited about this ICO.
I have just written a Steemit article slamming ICO's in general.
My Steemit article goes into depth about one ICO currently running, which has raised tens of millions of dollars against the promise of no share of the company, no votes, no dividend, no influence, no digital currency, no investment, no return or bonus etc.
Fools and their money are easily parted.
That was really great. I have a similar article where I talk how anyone can see if an ICO is a scam by seeing a series of steps. Please check it out and upvote it if you like it. https://steemit.com/ico/@vrushhq/cryptocurrency-ico-scams-how-to-see-for-red-flags-before-investing-into-icos
