Lev Coin is a cryptocurrency. If you don’t know what is a cryptocurrency – its a thing like BitCoin. And if you have not heard of Bitcoin… well, what you were doing the last year 🙂

Lev Coin is a cryptocurrency, based on the OpenSource CryptoNote code. The name ‘LEV’ comes from the national currency of Bulgaria, the country of the project initiators. The stated goals of the project are the creation of a currency, independent of the national government and the possible soon abolishment of the national currency in favor of the EURO, which is met with mixed feelings by the population. Although the project targets mostly Bulgarian people, in the global world of cryptocurrencies there are no borders.

As the project is still in its infancy the number of people that mine the coins is still not too big. This, combined with the properties of the CryptoNote algorithm that mostly tries to reduce the advantages that specialized electronics have over general computers – makes the mining much easier than it is with Bitcoin-based currencies, and encourage more people to step in early.

The coins have no predetermined ‘price’. As with other cryptocurrencies, the price depends on some mixture of the code quality, supporting authorities, computing power, number of participants and of course enthusiasm. As for the code part is the open source CryptoNote code its neither big an innovation, nor an risky experiment, somewhere in the middle. The project is new and so far its supported by one currency exchange as of December 2017. The number of miners and cpu power is increasing every day, still its just a tiny fraction (like one 90 000th part) of some bigger similar currencies like Monero, and there seems to be a growing community in the facebook page.
