Privacy Matters
Government Regulations
The markets are bleeding, why? Fear of government regulations. Governments are known for wanting to control everything. They don't like citizens who are opinionated and free. They want law abiding, easy to control citizens. They are humans and humans are greedy and controlling by nature. It is only natural for governments to want to control how things are done.
Privacy coins
This article is not about politics, it is about crypto and privacy. We all know that people love crypto because it is decentralized. Blockchain technology makes things immutable and very difficult to be controlled by one entity. Governments see cryptocurrencies as a threat to their sovereignty. They can see that cryptocurrencies will take away their power to control citizens. Crypto will make people more independent and independence brings about freedom.
The answer, the government will try to regulate everything and shut down those that they cannot regulate. Weak hands, because they are afraid that regulations will cause cryptocurrencies to die, panic and they go on a massive sell-off. The result, blood on the streets. Smart investors welcome this scenario because now they have an opportunity to buy the dips.
Investment opportunities
Smart investors will also look at currencies which offer anonymity and privacy. There are now a substantial amount of privacy-centric coins, the top ones being Monero, ZCash, Dash, Verge and my personal favorite, $Onion. Some of these have been around for a while and have somewhat established themselves, but some are still new and have great potential for investors. DeepOnion is less than a year old and it is an anonymous coin that uses the TOR network and OBFS4 to make transactions untraceable. A lot of great features are in development like:
- Deepsend, which will allow users to make completely untraceable transactions
- Stealth addresses, to hide the addresses of senders and receivers by creating random addresses for the sender and receiver for each transaction
- Zero knowledge protocol
- Vote Central which will allow holders to vote on developments and to contribute their ideas for future implementations
Great Community
DeepOnion has a very active community and it is growing each passing day. They have a very good dev team which is working tirelessly to implement all the planned features. This coin is greatly undervalued and has the potential to surpass many of the popular privacy coins in a year or two to come.
Why go private
I know when we talk about anonymity and privacy, a lot of people are quick to think drugs and illegal deals. Bitcoin was notorious for making it easy for criminals to do their businesses, and privacy coins will suffer the same. However, privacy is the right of every human being. Just because you are not doing anything illegal does not mean the government should snoop on your personal dealings and control how you make your transactions.
