Crypto's For Christmas!

IMG_9504.JPG

This evening we went to my parents house for our Christmas supper and gift exchange. I know it's December 16th lol but we have no choice. This week my parents leave Nova Scotia and head to Ontario for all their X-mas festivities. My grandparents, brother, sister and all of my extended family are in Ontario so they head there every year.

Baby Sitting Chickens

@lyndsaybowes, @eddiebowes, Kiedis, Stryder and myself stay in Nova Scotia because we have 56 chickens who need us to stay around. Perhaps next year we can find a way to join the rest of the family but I just don't see any ads on Kijiji for "Chicken Baby Sitter - Available For The Holidays" 😥

I wonder if the word "Baby Sitting" was started by chickens? I mean we don't sit on our babies, but they do! 😜

Our Supper!

Supper was delicious as always at my parents house since @marionbowes is a wonderful chef. These meatballs are a family favorite for the boys, @eddiebowes, @lyndsaybowes and myself.

Our Crypto Gift

@lyndsaybowes and myself have been excited for the past month waiting for X-mass supper at my parents house. Last month we decided to start a Bitshares account and transfer some of our HODL's over to them as a gift and a "Crypto Starter Kit". My parents have shown more and more interest in Crypto's and even Steemit. My mom @marionbowes is now a user on here and will start blogging regularly come January.

Haha... I never thought about chickens as literal baby-sitters but it makes sense! 😛

I gave bitcoin paper wallets to a handful of family back in 2013. My family was supportive of me and thought it was kind of fun and novel, but I think they appreciate it now a little more!

I bet they do! haha!! That's great!!

Hahaha silly chickens. Oh I'm sure your family members think its more then a novelty now! Hopefully they didn't lose their wallets. :(

I won't lie, I backed them up which is good because 4 out of 5 of them did.

Hahahah 4 out of 5 go figure lol

Smart of you to back them up. :)

Now I was wondering how do you count 56 chickens? Don't they just run all over the place back and forth.? Just how do you count them?

The only good way to count the chickens is in the evening once they've gone to roost.

They're easy to count.. start with the number 1... 😂😂😂😂 .... sorry I couldn't resist..

I gave $25 of bitcoin away at a family 'Yankee Swap'/'Chinese Auction' thing back in 2013. My uncle from Virginia won. I never really see or hear from them but this year he's been begging me to help him find the bitcoin I gave him...

Wow! I bet he wishes he didn't misplace his Bitcoin now! He probably was like oh wow ya thanks (in a sarcastic voice) when he got it. Freaking out now though eh lol

Oh yes, I can remember it just like it was yesterday. No one wanted the Bitcoin gift... and I was over there like 'someone will be thanking me later' yet no one believed me... It was impossible to get anyone in my family into Bitcoin for some reason. Really disappointing. But now they're slowly coming one by one asking for help setting up wallets and such.

Lol so funny isn't it. They all thought you were crazy dude. Now one by one they need your help to get in. It's funny how it all works out. I remember sitting in my truck in 2011 looking at Bitcoin trying to figure out my wallet when it was $5.00 a coin

Danggg those were the early days. I first heard about it sophomore year of college, 2012 while I was sitting in my dorm listening to @dollarvigilante and @adamkokesh videos ... unfortunately I was a broke college student accumulating nonsensical debt so I said fuck it and dropped out of that shithole the next year to get a full time job and acquire cryptos. Everyone thought I was stupid... the only stupid part was I didn’t get nearly enough saved... but can’t look at the hindsight just gotta keep grinding

Never look at hindsight, EVER!

The moves we make now are what matters. We'll get shot guns out and stick them in our own mouths if we look at hindsight lol.

There is a lot of good coins out there right now. Did you check hear about ACO? It's in pre-sale .ico right now. Private sale is already over and pre sale is filling fast. It's going to be fucking sweet!! The first Decentralized bank with software all already functional. Tokens are $1.20 though but still you should read up on it and see if it resonates with you.

Here's the link buddy. Arise Bank

Thanks my friend I'll check it out. I agree, looking back is a death sentence. I'm hoping (and thinking) EOS will hit it big!

Awww staying home for the chickens <3 #chickenlove :) What a great gift!I love the christmas tree!!

Thank you karenfoster. That tree is from our yard. Chopped down and dragged up the hill. Somewhat lopsided and a little bit on the Charlie Brown side but we love it. Its very fitting.

Yes! a perfect Charlie Brown tree! It looks magical ❤

Yes we love the chickens so much 😍. My mom always makes her Christmas tree super nice for the boys.

I am really sure they loved it. Their faces were glowing and they said oh a Christmas tree as soon as they got in the door.

What a wonderful evening we had. I bustled around all week looking for the perfect gifts for the family and then wrapping and planning the meal. I wanted it to feel just like Christmas even though it was the 16th. Then I got to thinking about the true meaning of Christmas and what is a day. We North Americans are so quick with the whole process. Shop till you drop and then eat like a frenzy and pack it in all in one day. Growing up in a European household Christmas was a season that went on for days. With food and family and friends that spread out day after day. A season of love and joy. So I say whats in a day with a number. Mother nature even gave us a nice covering of snow. We had the fire on, Christmas music playing, good food, presents and love and laughter. Is that not what Christmas is all about?

I love celebrating Christmas for days and days!!! Truth be told, i keep one or two Christmas decorations out all year!! Brings me so much joy to see them peaking out. Must be part of my lineage as you suggested it is what you did in Europe. Your tree is perfect!! Love the vision of happy children loving seeing the tree for the first time <3 The reason I am posting is because Your meatballs look yummy!!! Can I please get a picture of the recipie if it's not too much trouble! <3

hello there yogajill. ahhh yes the meatballs. well...its one of those in my head recipies. However, I will give you a clue. I used pork this time but I think its best to mix half beef and half pork, and I put spice and egg and Italian breadcrumbs. The sauce is a mish mash. You have to tweek away till you get it right. Ketchup, molasses, butter, water, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, vinegar, dry mustard. We like ours on the darker side so I add more molasses. Thats the best I can do for you. Sorry. I hope you like it when you make it. I used to actually have the recipe but I lost it years ago.

Thank-you so much Marion! I can totally work with this :D yummmm!!

Enjoy!!!! But beware...you need to wear really loose clothing...you will burst :)))

It was an amazing even indeed. Thank you very much. 😃

Hi @hendrix22,

if you pay me the plane ticket, I'd gladly to babysit all your chickens :D

Hahaha awesome!

Bitshares and Chicken sitting. Now I have it all figured out. Entering into Cryptoland I will be able to either fly or have them travel by car or train all the way to Ontario for Christmas. The possibilities with Crypto are that grand. However what do we do with 52 chickens. hmmm. Its not like they have a chicken kennel. There must be farm land supervisors somewhere. Even for the summer when we would like to spend a week at the seashore

lol what do we do with 56 chickens once we land in Ontario? I think a farm land supervisor is a better idea.

oh you are silly. I did not mean we take the chickens. I meant we take you. We need a farm supervisor too look after the chickens.

It looks like you all enjoyed a fantastic meal and a wonderful family evening together. That is what Christmas is truly about. I'm sure your parents just loved their gift. I think that is the best thing about Christmas anxiously awaiting as others open the presents you got for them. It's spectacular. I would offer to watch the chickens but I think they would overrun me. lol. Your family is showing what the meaning of Christmas truly is. Thank you for posting.

Yes @seareader1 the meal was incredible! Christmas to me is definitely about the time spent with family and friends and the meals always the meals. They were really excited for the gift yes.

Thanks for all the kind words. :)

I can bbsit for you guys!

You're a sweetheart Amy!! :)

Im doing same thing..... just signed up some friend on Binance and gave them BTC to trade with.

Awesome!!! That's really great of you :) Way to go @wendycoin

Baby chicks are the cutest! We had so much fun with them. They move so fast. They would move around, then next second falling sleep like dropping dead.

Your supper looks so delicious - warm and hearty and perfect for a snowy day!

Hello cheneats. Don't those meatballs look awesome. I made 70 of them with my own secret sauce. We always eat so many its silly. Yes it was warm and hearty and we had a perfect little blanket of snow to make the scene complete.

Absolutely! Those meatballs make my mouth watering so bad just by looking at them. I had to swallow my saliva a few times. :-') I love all the food that was prepared with love by someone for their loved ones. It makes this world a much better place to live. :)

Thank you, yes it does. We are so blessed. With family and love, good food, a roof over our heads and a warm bed. Living in the most awesome place ever and of course Steemit and fellow steemians such as yourself.

Absolutely! And what a great compliment! I appreciate it. I am just having fun making new friends. ;-)

YES...me also...quite novel this whole idea. You can hook up and discus all sorts of things that you find of interest with so many like minded folks and you never have to leave your couch..hee :)))

I totally agree! I have been enjoying watching beautiful snow scenes posted by @lyndsaybowes in Canada and others while wearing shorts in Florida without anyone asking me to shovel it. ;-)

Yes baby chicks are amazing. So neat to watch grow up. There so cute and funny :)

Those meat balls are so good and I ate to much like usual haha

Haha ... good for you! Now you have the strength to do any hard physical work tomorrow ;-)

Damn.. those meatballs look like the bomb.. making me hungry at 7:30 am...

I absolutely love the idea of crypto for Christmas... a gift that grows and isn't a Chia pet... Santa if you're reading could you please stuff my stocking with Ripple..

Thanks for sharing. May you live in happiness where ever you live and happy Christmas to you.

Thanks

Hi friend @hendrixx22
