Early Crypto Thoughts from a Crypto Newb

Well, I didn't plan on writing my second post here on cryptocurrency but it's become such a major focus of mine lately and I'm so excited about what's in store for the future of cryptocurrency, so I wanted to take note of some of my thoughts at this stage of my experience in the crypto world and throw it out there.

I've been dabbling around the edges of the crypto market for the last couple of years, but have only recently decided I want to get serious about my participation. So, I'm certainly not one of the first geniuses who got in at the very beginning but I would say I'm probably one of the ones getting in during the early stages, and I'm excited about what that could mean, depending on where cryptos take us. Or rather, where we take them. Cause that's the beauty of this whole thing, isn't it? We are taking control of where it goes. No longer will our monetary fate, and thus the fate of our lives, be decided by faceless black suits hiding in the dark corners of centralized institutions. And that's pretty fucking awesome if that really is where this takes us.

So, a couple of years ago, I purchased a small amount of Bitcoin and it wasn't too long before I saw my money double. I was impressed and pretty excited that I'd made money by doing absolutely nothing, but I still was not convinced that Bitcoin was what it really is. I wasn't convinced anything could replace our current money system, even though I knew it was already dead. My first small Bitcoin investment doubled around my birthday, and I wanted to give myself a birthday present, so I withdrew my Bitcoin and used the money to buy a really nice lens for my camera I'd been wanting for a while.

As time went on, and Bitcoin shot up to $2000, 3000, 4000.. I was really wishing I'd kept my money in Bitcoin and just watched it grow. But I also had a lot of fun with my new lens and made a little money with it too, so I still consider it a win. Funny enough, I recently sold that lens and used the money to buy back into Bitcoin.

Bitcoin has since been on the periphery of my daily internet scans, and when I had a little extra cash, I’d buy a little here and there. Seeing it rise to $4000 recently was pretty huge, and after diving into a few Youtubers’ information like Clif High and others, I knew I should really jump in and be a part of this crypto thing. I mean, how cool is it to be a part of something you really believe can change the world as we know it? And it isn't just an idealized dream - it's already happening! Once I really understood what cryptocurrencies are and the potential they have to dramatically change so many aspects of our daily life, how could I not want to get involved?

When I go out into the world, I usually return home so disheartened by what I witness. On the whole, the actions taking place on a daily basis, worldwide, all revolve around chasing the same thing. Money really does make the world go ‘round. Which is fine in and of itself, I guess, if chasing money is what you’re into. People have to have something to get them out of bed. But I get so frustrated when I witness people putting forth so much effort, so much thought, so much energy, so much valuable time that they can never get back, spinning their wheels for a lifetime just for some paper with numbers on it, that isn’t backed by anything and which actually has more debt attached to it than its value, and which never gets them anywhere. I see so much wasted life, at every single level, in our monetary system and it really must stop. Lives are being wasted every day, and we can do much, much better than we have.

The only reason we use fiat currency is because everyone agrees to, but what if we stop agreeing to? Maybe we already have. For me, I see cryptocurrencies as an answer to many of the problems our world is facing, and has been facing for quite some time now. I see the potential for ingenuity and creativity to be rewarded instead of stifled or left to die under a pile of bills and to-do lists. I see a chance for people to spend their energy in ways that are important to them and a way for us to all get on a little more equal footing. I hope for a world that revolves around what we can create and what good we can do with our creations, rather than how many pieces of paper we can collect. I see the systems that do not serve or support humanity dissolving. They have no choice anymore. From my perspective, we really have a chance to birth a new kind of world in the next few years. We really are the ones we’ve been waiting for. It’s a pretty fucking exciting time to be alive. At least, I have to believe so.

What excites you most about cryptos?

This is exactly what excites me the most about bitcoin: "No longer will our monetary fate, and thus the fate of our lives, be decided by faceless black suits hiding in the dark corners of centralized institutions". Well put!

Hi hazel.and.sage, interesting thoughts, keeping it decentralized is maybe the biggest challenge facing the crypto space. What model of camera do you have?

Thanks! I think its intrinsic design and the good human beings behind this movement will keep it so.

I have a Nikon D600 :-)

Nice post, you are good with words :)

Thanks so much; happy to have you stop by!
