No, he did that to reassure people that his faith was in the coin, in its technology and usability. Many coins are driven by hype and its makers and investors 'pumping' it up falsely to generate interest and belief. That is the nature of the industry at the moment, so it happens. Charlie Lee believes in Litecoin and so do a lot of other people. Keep researching.
