Shivom - Tokenization of genomic data

Genomics and blockchain

Genomic medicine is becoming more mainstream and it is important that health professionals keep apace of this complex and rapidly developing field. It is getting cheaper and faster to sequence the human genome. It took 13 years to first sequence it because the DNA sequence in humans is very long and the sequencing machines used to be very slow. Now, machines can sequence a human genome in days and the cost is falling rapidly. The technological advances have led to a giant leap forward in the scope of genomics and its growing role in healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry.

But the world of healthcare is not just changing with the introduction of genomic medicine but blockchain technology brings its perks to the table. Two revolutionary technologies, genomics, and blockchain are poised to significantly improve health and well-being across the globe. The blockchain is set to be the biggest transformation in innovation since the advent of the internet and Shivom aims to bring these technologies together to create a revolutionary medical genomics ecosystem that will open up healthcare opportunities for all.

Shivom offers a solution for patients, genome data donors and researchers to be able to have their genome sequenced and securely stored. Furthermore, the Shivom ecosystem will provide an open web-marketplace for buying and selling data with providers such as pharmaceuticals, research organizations, governments, and insurers to add their apps and services, alongside genomic data analytics and personalized medicine.

OmiX token

Shivom platform uses OmiX token instead of fiat currency to pay for the services offered on the platform. Users can sell their genomic data in exchange for the token. Research labs can buy the genomic data by paying the OmiX token. Users can also pay for the third-party apps which would be available on the platform. With the current state of unavailability of genetic information, Shivom have plenty of use cases as it is the only project targeting the field with this approach.

  1. Researchers: Researchers will now have ready access to the genomic data of anyone in the world. This means that they have more data to perform research on, which helps to get a clear understanding of genetics.
  2. Users: The genetic data of the users was worth nothing till now. This is about to change with Shivom coming into the picture. Users can sell their genetic data and be rewarded and at the same time help science understand better about the human genetics.

The main benefits Shivom provides are as follows:
• Since every genomic data is present in one place, it is easier to access.
• This enables the researchers to find any health conditions in the users before it becomes serious. Prevention of disease through predictions, diagnosis and treatments will be provided by the doctors.
• The data provided by the user now has some value which is governed by smart contracts.

Token Metrics 🎰

TOTAL TOKEN SUPPLY - 3 billion tokens
1 ETH = 7000 OMX tokens
Soft Cap - 15 million USD (Already achieved)
Hard Cap - 35 million USD
Total tokens for crowd sale - 990 Million

This is just the beginning...

Genomic data does not tell us much on its own. Clinical information about a person’s phenotype has to be considered alongside genomic information to make any sense of the raw data. Phenotypic information includes symptoms, age and measurements like blood pressure. But obtaining genomic data and integration with blockchain technology is going to be imperative for future medical treatments and diagnosis. Shivom is just the first step in this medical revolution.

Dear @eyox, There is a problem. How/where genomic data could be obtained?
The second problem is privacy and confidentiality! in your opinion, what happened to medical ethics!
thank you

Good question. You can get genomic data with your saliva. Shivom would send a kit in the mail where you can upload your own DNA sequence, simply by collecting your saliva and returning it to Shivom.
