A recurring theme in my lifetime seems to be the elusive nature of "value". What is the worth of something and why? I'm 45 now and I lived through the introduction of the euro, the rise of the internet, one economic bubble after the other, and groundbreaking new technology being obsolete a few years later. Clearly the financial system is pretty broken but it has been for a long time now.
I'm always on the lookout for ways to make or save money and not get stuck in the hamster wheel of a regular job, to free up time to do other things that seem more valuable to me.
Last year I found some info on Ethereum and got intrigued by the possibilities. I had read "Who owns the future?" by Jaron Lanier (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Owns_the_Future%3F) and Ethereum seemed to me a possible solution to the problems with the internet-economy he describes in the book.
It seemed like a good idea to learn a bit about this new technology. I did some internet-research, found Genesis Mining and invested a minimum amount just to try it out. Then I, sort of, forgot about it.
A month ago I looked at my Genesis Mining again and the value was about 7 times what I had put in. That got me interested in cryptocurrency in general again. I upgraded my hash-power and started looking for more information about other cryptocoins and blockchain-projects.
Through Boxmining (https://steemit.com/@boxmining) on Youtube I found Steemit.
Ofcourse since then the Crypto-market went downdowndown. But still I want to learn more and intent to invest longterm. This might even be a good moment to invest some more. Last week I started using Coinbase and Exodus and I am looking into new promising projects like Metal and Thether.
