My issue with cryptocurrencies, volatility and maybe how things could improve.

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Right now as I see things, the main things that give cryptocurrencies a demand other than speculation is the ability to transfer wealth quickly, smart automated contracts, and a rejection of the debt based fiat currency system.

There are a lot of ICOs out there and some of them are amazing ideas, but a large majority of the population doesn't even accept bitcoin or trust it, so I think some of them are ahead of their time.

The U.S. dollar has created a lot of demand for it by being backed by oil, a commodity that is used in basically everyone's day to day life. I think crypto needs to try and take a simmilar approach

with the amount of money going into ICOs power plants could be built and profits converted into crypto, ideally you would want them to pay in crypto but legally it might be difficult. Even ICOs to fund farms and food markets or buy restaurant chains.

these are simple ideas and may be missing any wow factor, but I believe they would are necessary to give crypto a good foundation. When people see crypto affecting the world around them it will be trusted more.

I have only been looking a crypto for a couple months now, I find it quite interesting. Forgive me if i said something completely stupid, I am happy to be corrected.

Happy to hear anyone's thoughts or the ideas on the subject, or if you know any ICOs implementing these ideas.

I think one of the main things that gives crypto value and credibility is the platform which supports the currency. This is why I see ETH as more valuable than BTC longterm but BTC's value is higher now as it was first to market and is becoming more and more widely accepted.
